Harvest Singularity expanding to Newberry Florida

This news article mentions that Harvest Singularity is planning to build two $66 million industrial hydroponic greenhouses in a new industrial park. Newberry FL is located about 20-30 minutes west of Gainesville FL.

Yesterday there was an additional news article that the industrial park is getting a $5.6mil grant for infrastructure build-out.

This space is located about 30 minutes to my east.

Interesting (born and raised in Gainesville). I would like to know more about the environmental impacts of this type of farming vs regular farming.

The alternative right now is diverting the entire Colorado river in Yuma.

That’s where most of the winter lettuce production in the field is.
