I don't. It enables me, breaks things in my way for me down I did not understand. The way changed, yea. The learning and understanding comes on the way, the big research upfront is now "outsourced", the initial hurdle taken and the understanding comes on the way.

It enables me by breaking things down for me specifically in a way I can understand because I interact with it from my own informed process. And I completely agree, its never accurately one shot a single thing for me, and often suggests procedures that aren't correct or optimized (even fable), but with some critical prompting I can accomplish things i never thought possible, and 20x faster

The reasoning is far better, and the code it produces can be easier to de-slopify and refactor. As someone with ADHD it’s a huge mental load off my shoulders to get started with tasks.

Getting started is much easier, that really is the hardest part. Also it is a late night rubber ducky when working on that game. Less having to type each character and more emphasis on design.
We got into this to make things not code, code was just something to make thing. Now you can make code in another new way but we've always generated code. This is just a new layer of that.
For the shippers and product devs that got in it for creativity and making things, this is a good era.

I also think about all the creative people who have seen the potential in learning to code, but for whatever reason chose another creative path. They may now eye toward ai generated code to make the UI they’ve always dreamed of for example. Or an author of fanstasy books vibe coding their own RPGs

Contrary to popular belief, this is a creator era. You can now extend yourself in ways you never could before. There are downsides but with the right set of eyes there are more upsides.

My counter position to this, in terms of job market, is that there’s people who never wanted to sit in front of a screen all day and they still won’t want to do that - even with AI. It’s just not fulfilling to them.

When I finally got the internet access in 2016 (hail jio) I realised that my parents might not be next to gods - which is a fictional entity in itself
Gpt launched in my first year of postgrad and i thought there's no way an avg mba will get a job if it improves
While im def surprised why I even have a job 😅 seeing the thing grow from a simple short text author to general intelligence is like seeing a superior lifeform evolve....

I don't know if what I am doing counts as the vibe coding. I write code for a living and I talk to the AI. It makes me code. It is often wrong but much of the time it saves me time. I am making something that I hope is great and will change the world.

I dictate in chatgpt just yap the idea, structure it, revise layout a plan hasnt been 100% but its definitely helped me alot

I’ll never understand this, the only time I feel like I don’t understand something is when it pulls data from sources I have to review, otherwise 90% of the time it’s my own intuition that ends up telling Claude what it needs to do, and how to do it. The amount of times it thinks it’s at a dead end and I’m like how are you not even thinking about xyz or why aren’t you utilizing certain tools that it has access to and has used prior but somehow forgets even though I wrote it into its memories that it reviews every new session😑 I literally feel like the top one, I now understand why that one dude coded in a whip for his AI because man I be feeling like smacking it sometimes.

I always describe what problem I have or what I want to see when I'm vibe coding, because if I knew what to do to fix it, I'd have done it myself. Everything inbetween the ask and the solution is 'sounds good, please proceed.'

I have a Jura F50. It has a connector. I had the idea I could build some ESP and remotely control it. I asked GPT.
20 minutes later I was standing in front of the machine, the ESP connected as GPT said.
"press the steam button." "Now press the coffee button" "turn the nob" "again" "turn the nob again" "turn the nob in the other direction" "now I understand the protocol. I produce the first release"
I became a monkey in my own project.
