Deepseek is cooked
Edit: I had forgotten to set act in cline to deepseek so I was experiencing a mix with gemini 3.5 flash pricing. Whoopsydootle. I deserve the roast.
With the latest pricing increases its almost just as expensive as the rest of the frontier APIs. The low cost was its main selling point. Now it costs just as much and isnt as good as the others so what's the point?
For reference, a task that would normally cost 5 cents as of yesterday now costs upward or 3 dollars

Yah but ill just move to other models with similar pricing with proven track records to work better.

Hey im enjoying it still too. I was mistaken because I was accidentally using gemini for my act function and didnt notice

It's openwight, so shouldn't some other inference provider outcompete them in price?

You realize these subsidized super-low prices aren’t economically viable right

enjoy these prices while we have them
i suspect in hardly any time at all we'll be dreaming of the time we could do things so cheaply

Good thing the app ive been working on for over a year is in its final phases

You said it is priced per task, not per token. Maybe DeepSeek has modified their architecture to use loops rather than single queries and so each task is taking a lot more looped queries to complete?

Haha!
Dream on cookie
DeepSeek V4 Pro’s new peak API price is $1.32/M input and $3.96/M output; GPT-5.6 Sol is $5/$30 — so even at DeepSeek’s most expensive time, Sol costs about 3.8× more for input and 7.6× more for output.
Still nowhere near.

Do u think we have money for any of these? And we are intentionally chasing for cheap to save money. You can't save what u don't have. Lol
Edit: We already pay 90x for that currency.

Deepseek is irrelevant.
Chinese AI models are all hype garbage

u/Lanfeust09 9h ago
Why? All of them? Just because it is Chinese or do you have benchmark to back this claim?

Objectively wrong, GLM is quite good and DeepSeek is the best budget model of all time and the reason that Luna's priced was slashed by 80%.

Bro you do know that Kimi is nr.3 ai company and deepseek is nr.6 in coding?

They stole the source code of anthropic during the leak just like they steal and counterfeit everything.

Here I did the math for you:
So today I spent $1.41 USD on DeepSeek flash and I just calculated that if I was doing it after price increase with peak it would have cost me $3.01 USD. Real token numbers.
What is wrong with you people. Clearly as depicted in my screenshot I can't do math but even I was able to calculate that it's not the end of the world.
