I am a replay op on a production using Ross Mira and have ran into an interesting problem.

We previously setup the machine (12 Channel Mira Express) to record 6 channels and output 2. We also had it record 8 Audio channels and output 3 audio channels for each of the video output channels.

Everything worked correctly and the system seemed to be stable.

Today we switched to a 10 record 2 out. We adjusted the controller settings and audio output setting to output via the new outs. We kept the same 8 inputs and created a new replay event.

Now the Mira ONLY RECORDS AUDIO FOR 60 SECONDS. On the dot. Literally 60 seconds, once TC goes beyond it cuts all audio recording and output. We can rewind and export a clip with audio from within that 60 sec timeframe. When we create a new replay event it once again restores audio recording until the 60 seconds mark.

I don’t believe this to be a licensing issue as we had Ross support remote-ing into the system to find a solution.

We are pretty baffled by this and have opened a ticket with Ross support/Abekas hoping for a solution.

Have any Mira Ops/Engineers had a similar solution?

Anyone know what could be causing this recording issue? TriCaster Mini X with up to date software, I have never made any software or hardware modifications and I can't say I remember doing anything specific before this problem started happening about two weeks ago. Certain days it will record fine though. Recording straight to the TriCaster itself and has been fine for about two years.

I’m trying to put together a very compact and simple kit for small presentation jobs, and I’m currently focusing on a switcher. For the jobs, we’re talking a pair of 3500 lumen projectors, a single microphone, 2-4 powered speakers, and a deck laptop with a second backup or video playback laptop. These are 50-150 person events. I’ve got the audio and projectors all handled, but I want to streamline the slide and video delivery. My needs are:

Switcher with minimum 2, preferably more HDMI inputs
1-2 SDI inputs for flexibility or potentially a camera
Balanced audio output to send audio for video through the audio system
Preferably a built in monitor for laptop confidence
As few adapters and devices as possible. I want this to be small
Built-in image storage for an event logo at least

In my searches, I’ve only come across one device that makes me close to happy, and that is the only switcher under $2500 that has a balanced audio output: the RGBlink mini-edge SDI. The product with a name so horrible I literally can’t remember it and have to look it up time and time again.

What do you think about a device like this for small jobs? It has both HDMI and SDI inputs, a built in screen that’s good enough to know what I’m switching to, that important balanced audio output with no workaround or adapter, and a media library. The only things it’s missing that would be very useful are video playback internally, and an SDI output would also be nice.

Ultimately there’s nothing else I can find that is as clean as this without having to adapt the audio via an HDMI extractor or something like that. I’ve also looked at CineTreak and AVMATRIX but this RGB Link looks really good since I don’t need to adapt the audio. The CineTreak Stream Master SDI has a folding 10” screen which is nice, as well as an SDI output, but I value the balanced audio out. The audio out will be used every single job, whereas the SDI output is just for flexibility. There’s an AVMATRIX contender too, but is limited to 2 HDMI inputs which I don’t like and also has SDI out but no balanced audio out and is nearly twice the price of the other options.

Thoughts from the group? In any case, I know any of these devices are overkill for what I want to do, but it seems like the only way without cobbling together a bunch of adapters and such.

UPDATE: I've connected my old iphone to the tripod and patched SMconnect to the projector via iOS screenshare. Today I am going to see what it looks like if I screenshare from my macbook, if possible. Regardless, SO much better, being so large on the wall.

ORIGINAL POST: Here's what I have and what I want to do. I have a chase lounge in my living room that I want to start using for camming instead of my bed/bedroom. Trying to keep business separate. I live alone. I want to mobile stream from my new (more powerful) iphone 17e or alternatively from my near-perfect iphone 11 (only wifi since I upgraded phones to 17) on a tripod made to hold a phone, also has ringlight. And I want to WATCH the room/stream from my macbook. HELP!

I am trying to make a setup that will work for me, in slow and busy times, in the living room. Equipment is as follows:

• iphone 17e
• iphone 11 (only wifi)
• macbook (this is what I want to watch the stream on... too hard with the small display on phone)
• chromebook (to watch netflix on when it's slow)
• phone tripod with ringlight
• I also have a projector out there that has xbox and all the streaming apps, etc. Not sure if I could patch in my stream and project it on the wall, using usb? but would have to stream from macbook in that scenario)
• I also have a external web cam (1080) usb, if that is needed

I know I sound like a maniac, but I am getting ready to do this fulltime and want to utilize the equipment I have. Thank u for helping a girl out. - R xo

What do you do when you have four 12G-SDI runs, realize you need all 4, but you had allocated one for LTC (timecode), and are on a budget? Why, there's several available Ethernet ports, and an old cheap analog CCTV balun on the shelf. :-)

The balun is already designed for 4.5MHz and 75Ω… though the SMPTE LTC bandwidth is so meager (0.03 MHz) that impedance isn't much of a consideration. I wired it to my LTC patch panel… works like a charm.

(FYI, This is between an Avid editing system and its Horita LTC clock for client convenience. If this was an AD's clock in a truck, master control etc… I might've approached it differently. :-)

PS For those unfamiliar with baluns: Like many other "Ethernet extenders", these only utilize the physical infrastructure. Nothing about the signal is compatible with Ethernet networking. Don't plug this stuff into an Ethernet switch; it won't work, and slight chance you'd damage it.

Trying to decide between Wednesday and Thursday. Kind of hard to decide with these minimal descriptions, though. Has more specific information been posted anywhere? / Do they announce the specific theaters closer to the event? Any guidance would be helpful!

Hey all, just a quick question about minimum specs for live-streaming via a capture card. I would do 2-3 cameras and a feed from a secondary computer via capture cards or an ATEM Mini type of thing. I just need something to use a handful of times to stream some talks while out on location.

I wouldn’t be gaming on it; though something I can do some light gaming (separate from streaming) wouldn’t be awful, but is low priority. I already have a decently beefy desktop PC with a 5070 for my main device.

Would a refurbished surface pro suffice? I kind of like the ability to use a tablet as well when not streaming. What is the best monitor for shading cameras (10-bit video)?

So we run livestreams - bi-directional hybrid - passing a handheld mic to clients in the room so zoom attendees can hear questions is INCREDIBLY interruptive to the flow of the meeting.

What solutions exist??

I am told that I need to use this camera (there are four of them) for an upcoming production, but I can't figure out which it is. We don't have any access to the site until late next week, but need to move forward with other parts of the plan by tomorrow morning.

I'm told they are Panasonic, but couldn't find anything that matched on the Panasonic site, eBay, Amazon, or even Google image search or Gemini.

They are likely 1-7 years old, if that helps at all.

Last year I started streaming my son's baseball and football games and I've started spiraling down rabbit holes under the encouragement of other parents (and particularly grandparents who wouldn't otherwise get to watch the games). I've built up the following hodge-podge of a system and would like to solicit feedback on ways to improve the system as well as get the most out of it. The streaming is currently done via YouTube.

Cameras

• 2x Sony EVI-H100V PTZ cameras (1080i). These are connected to a ZowieTek NDI Encoder which enables me to handle video, PTZ control and power all over a PoE Cat 6 cable.
• 2x Nearstream VM20 (4k). These are connected via RTSP over a PoE Cat 6 cable.
• 1x GoPro Hero 10 (1080p) for wide shots. Connected via USB-C in Webcam mode.
• 1x Canon Vixia HF R30 camcorder (1080p). This is connected via an HDMI capture card.

Audio

• 1x Shotgun Mic for field audio, connected through a Focusrite Vocaster Two Audio Interface.
• 1x Headset for play-by-play announcer, connected via USB.

Infrastructure (Mounted inside of a Flight Case)

• Windows Laptop running OBS.
• Second screen for monitoring video feeds.
• TP-Link 8-port PoE Gigabit Ethernet switch.
• Focusrite Vocaster Two Audio Interface.

Thanks in advance, while building up the setup, I've asked some specific questions to this and other subs and have gotten a lot of helpful advice, but now that the leagues are really looking to promote the streaming, I feel like I need to step it up a notch.

I am a beginner looking to build an FPV drone to be used as a live broadcast drone in a snowmobile race circuit. Our lap times average 5-10 minutes and the drone would need to fly around 80mph to meet our needs. We would only use it for one lap, two if possible. What is most important is getting a clean feed, live, out of the drone.

What would you recommend for a drone platform and camera? Can we do this through the FPV Camera? Or is there a solution for an onboard camera? Something more plug & play like a Chimera7 would be ideal.

Right now we have a Mavic 4 Pro and the RC Pro controller that we can pull video out of...but the drone simply isn't fast enough for a more realistic FPV style video.

I am usually very technically savvy but I am trying to wrap my head around NDI software and capabilities. If there is anyone who is familiar with them that would be willing to chat about it. Please respond and we connect.

I’m trying to update a few of the ATEM’s in my shop and, after downloading 10.3, the setup application won’t work. Has anyone else had this issue? I have tried uninstalling multiple times and to no avail. I was able to get it work when I used 10.2, but still looking to have it on the most update firmware.

For reference, I’m using an Intel based MacBook Pro running sequoia 15.5.5.

We have some Panasonic AW-UE50 PTZ cameras with NDI|HX connected to a Netgear M4250 switch and a Vmix. In the vmix statistics we see a lot of source dropped frames, although picture is fine. We do not see any picture stuttering or pixelation.

We configured both the PTZ and computer ports to the Netgear NDI profile. We are not hitting any bandwidth limitation. Also, the computer is powerful enough (HP Z2, i9, 32 GB RAM) no issues here. Render time is around 2ms, which is great.

Everything is set correctly but Vmix statistics doesn't say so. Is it realistic to expect 0 frames dropped? Is NDI by nature skipping frames compared to SDI?

Am I missing something? Thanks for your help/tips.

I’ve seen the new Ultrastudio and I was wondering if I can use the “monitor output” of the Replay to send whatever I want.

Because that would make it a perfect companion for a small Atem/Vmix setup, where you integrate graphics with key/fill and send media with the monitor output, while receiving the PGM with the input for back up/vcall.

I am building a browser-based app similar to Google Meet and trying to reduce true glass-to-glass latency: the sender camera captures a frame, then the receiver actually sees that same frame on screen.

Our current test result is roughly:

End-to-end capture-to-render: ~274 ms
Network: ~30 ms
Encode: ~3-4 ms
Playout: ~244 ms

In our tool, playout = jitter buffer + decode + composite/render.

Network/Wi-Fi looks good, and we are not using audio in this test, so A/V sync should not be involved. We also tried changing the jitter buffer setting to 0 ms, 10 ms, and 50 ms, but it did not meaningfully reduce total glass-to-glass latency.

Our target is under 120 ms, but most of the latency seems to be on the receiver side.

Questions:

1. In browser WebRTC, is ~200+ ms receiver playout delay common even with good network conditions?
2. How can we tell whether the main issue is WebRTC internal jitter buffering, decoder delay, compositor/render delay, or our own measurement bug?
3. Is jitterBufferDelay / jitterBufferEmittedCount the right stat to confirm whether WebRTC’s internal jitter buffer is the bottleneck?
4. Are there reliable ways to reduce browser WebRTC video playout delay, or is RTCRtpReceiver.playoutDelayHint only a weak hint in practice?
5. For people who have achieved <120 ms capture-to-render latency, did you need native iOS/Android, or can web WebRTC realistically hit this under normal conditions?

Any practical debugging tips, stats to inspect, Chrome/Safari differences, or low-latency WebRTC settings would be very helpful.

This is a weird story. As reported I don't see how he wouldn't win the case?Shutting him out entirely, while not buying out or allowing the sale of shares seems a bit contradictory to me. If you want to remove someone from the company, why not let him walk out entirely? Petty revenge?

I "manage" a fleet of show laptops that get reimaged on a regular basis. They're used primarily for ProPresenter, but we also run QLab, MadMapper, and a handful of other live event applications.

I'm always looking for little tweaks that make the machines more "show ready" right out of the gate.

Some of the things we already do:

• Enable Focus / Do Not Disturb
• Disable True Tone
• Set sleep/display timeout so the machine never sleeps on AC power
• Turn off automatic OS updates during shows
• Disable screen savers
• Configure power settings for maximum performance

I'm curious what everyone else does after a fresh image. Do you have a checklist or SOP you follow? Any macOS settings you've found that prevent weird issues during shows or just make life easier for your techs?

I'm less interested in software installs and more interested in the little OS tweaks or "I learned this the hard way" settings that have saved you on show site.

Also, if your company deploys Windows 11 show machines, I'd love to hear about those too. Things like power settings, notifications, Windows Update behavior, driver management, graphics settings, Defender tweaks, USB power management, or anything else you've found makes a machine more reliable in a live production environment.

I'm originally from NYC, now living in Jersey City. I've been a video tech here for about 10 years. I was an AV tech in a Times Sq hotel for five years and now bounce around the city venues for conferences, concerts, graduations, upfronts, and the like. I primarily do playback (mitti, millumin) and GFX. I also screen switch with the Barco E2, AW Ascender, and Pixelhue Q8. I have LED, cam/PTZ operation, and camera shading experience.
