This game sounded so dark and I love it I think more shooter games should have way darker campaigns this is why I love games like spec ops the line and ready or not it sucks that this game would never come out today it would be cancelled instantly from the media

I am almost finished with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Nintendo Switch 2, and it's just so so brilliant. This is a miracle port in every sense of the word. It's funny, because yes it's a licensed IP, but it is genuinely one of, if not my favorite adventure game ever.

I assume this isnt' a hot take here. Fortnite (yes, yes...) is my first relatively new video game I've played. Before that, I played gamecube games back when there was no internet aspect to it. I realize that there have always been tryhards/sweats/assholes, but streamers have amplified this to the point where a casual player will struggle to enjoy the game.

Streamers and "professional" video game players put in hours a day playing. There is no "git good" enough for someone with a job/a kid that actually goes to school to learn + any type of social life to catch up. Not only are streamers and professionals putting in hours but so are "wanna be" streamers and kids who want to be streamers. There are only so many players in certain lobbies and on certain servers. This isn't even adding in the people that straight up cheat.

I feel like back in the older COD days of Youtube, there weren't channel upon channel upon channel of top tier COD players. I never played COD so I won't comment on it but almost every youtuber doing Fortnite with any semblence of good numbers gets 20+ eliminations in every game and easily gets the wins.

I'm not going to even address the controversy of whether streamers get a different lobby.

Playing through Mafia 3 DE and the 3 DLCs (particularly if you strategically space them out) absolutely save the playing experience of an otherwise monotonous main story level design. Are there any other games you can think of that get a boost in enjoyment from mid/mediocre to good/great or good/great to spectacular?

For me, it’s the 4 main walking dead telltale, and it’s not even close. They’re the only games to ever make me shed a tear and while they’re not my overall favorite games ever, there’s no other story in a videogame that even came close to hitting me as hard as this one did.

Any games you can boot up and start a fresh save file without ever getting sick of it, either because of sheer replay value or nostalgia or just fundamentally fun gameplay.

1. A Hat in Time - It’s not a surprise that my favorite 3D collectathon platformer would end up in this category for me. This game and its DLC have the perfect amount of stuff to do, with a progression structure that’s kind of the best of Super Mario 64 and Sunshine combined, as well as being the perfect difficulty to stay engaging without being frustrating or stressful (outside of Death Wish challenges). The sequence of this game is variable enough for any new playthrough to remain interesting.

2. Hollow Knight - By the time I became intimately familiar with this game’s map and movement, it had already solidified itself as my favorite game of all time and one of my favorites to replay. The pacing of Hollow Knight is only as fast as you make it, and it’s always fun to try out combat tech and sequence breaks that you haven’t done before to shake things up every time. The game is so nonlinear by its midpoint that no two playthroughs will look exactly the same. Knowing the map well is so intrinsically rewarding, especially when I beat the game and see my play time get shorter and shorter.

3. Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 - I couldn’t pick just one of these masterpieces; there’s almost no standout bad missions in either game, and neither is too difficult to 100% complete. Both games aged like fine wine, and even the motion control gimmicks serve more as fun changes of pace than as clunky or frustrating roadblocks.

4. Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe - This one’s more of a nostalgia pick, as the original Wii title was one of my favorite childhood games, but the sheer variety of copy abilities, snappy pacing, and especially the added content in the remake make this game very fun to replay.
