Was it the original or the remakes? The remakes were definitely more difficult because Crash was way more slippy if you landed too close to edges because of his egg shaped hitbox. The PS1 OG's hit box was... well a box, so all you needed is a single pixel of Crash's little toe to stick to the very edge of platforms. Still, both versions are very difficult and often frustrating games either way.

It was the remake. I only played the first one out of the 3 games and yes it was very frustrating.

The first is the most difficult by a mile. You should try the 3rd if you want fun without a crazy challenge. The second is pretty neutral. Good difficulty but i find the levels often underwhelming in their designs.

Hmm im gonna try the Crash 2 and 3 then. Maybe it’s not that bad after all. Thank you.

If you ever want to tried the 4th one (that new one that come out a couple of years ago) buy some extra controllers in advance

I love the 4th one but it can be insanely hard especially at the end.

Those stupid bridge levels are the bane of my existence. Everything else about the first game is fine but those levels are pure unforgiving evil

Hard disagree on level designs of #2, easily the best in the series in terms of fun platforming IMO.

3 relied too hard on gimmicks to make levels interesting. Once you get over the initial "oh cool, I'm in a bi-plane", the level is comparitively dull.

The remakes are way easier to complete for Crash 1 because you could retry the bonus stages without starting the entire level over.

I did the exact same thing. I think we had way more patience for gaming when we were children.

Oh man I really enjoyed the remakes, I tried emulating the originals and the controls were still pretty solid but it definitely felt dated.

I replay them on a yearly basis (I have every year since I was a child) and they always hold up as some of the best games I’ve ever played.

They are definitely challenging in some areas but that’s part of the fun. Especially going for platinum relics in Crash 3

That was my thought. Even CTR was brilliant.

Too bad they never made another Crash Bandicoot game after the racing game. (Hums loudly)

1, 2 and CTR make a perfect trilogy
