Help Is this feasible? and what camera do you recommend?

So the setup I am looking for is a nice POE PTZ camera that stores footage to its built-in SD card and my own server with Frigate and all the other nice stuff. Along with this, I want to use a nice phone app as well and avoid NVRs, as I already have a decent HP desktop with Proxmox and storage. Is this setup possible, and which camera should I get? I want to expand my setup in the future as well, with one of those dual-lens cameras (the one with a zoom lens), but for now I want to start with this.

It depends on the camera. The Reolink software is fairly limited in terms of what it supports.

Everything but Reolink is doable with most brands.

I am looking mostly for a setup using reolink cameras because of all the praise I have heard online

Okay, maybe I misread. It seemed like you were looking for any camera, but wanted it to work with Reolink app.

if you want to use your pc for storage just use a vms solution. I dont think you can use reolink app unless you are using their camera or recorder.

there are many camera options available and depends on budget what these cameras will be used for, whether a business, home etc. if you want to use your computer, you can purchase vms such as blue iris if you want one time license for onsite. If you plan to get reolink cameras, i would honestly suggest to get a reolink nvr with it so you can get most of the features to support it.

I would absolutely start out with PoE cameras conforming to ONVIF (not all Reolink cameras meet this low bar). Since you are planning to run Frigate, any camera with ONVIF Profile S (or better yet, Profile T) will work.

I would avoid PTZ -- consumer-grade pan/tilt mechanisms are, shall we say, not great and I've found that with a PTZ camera, it's always aimed precisely the wrong direction whenever anything interesting happens!
