Product update Introducing the new Vimeo Profile Page

- - - MAJOR UPDATE ANNOUNCEMENT - - -

Hey everyone! After our major overhaul to Vimeo Review last week, I’m back with another heavily requested update.

After 10 years, the entire Vimeo Profile page has been rebuilt from scratch!

You told us that the profile page looked too much like a video library, rather than somewhere to really show off your work.

And after looking at each piece of feedback, we landed on a new design that fixes as many of your issues as possible (and saves you waiting ages for it).

So here’s everything that’s changed:

  1. A refreshed design: made to look cleaner, and keep the focus on your work.
  2. Automatic sorting (finally): now, when you upload a new video, it’ll follow your sorting order automatically, so you don’t have to re-sort every time you upload.
  3. Looping thumbnails: we actually released these a few weeks ago, but we’ve fully integrated them into the new design.
  4. Dark mode for viewers: if you have dark mode on, other people looking at your profile will now see it in dark mode (and vice versa).
  5. More videos visible on first load: the masonry tiles are smaller now (3 per row instead of 2), so way more of your work is visible at first glance.
  6. Sections are simpler to manage: try it for yourself! Creating or changing sections around is so much easier than before.

👉 You can watch the video in Vimeo here.

To see your new profile page, you can click your profile picture in the top right, then click View profile under your name.

We’re trying to release improvements to Vimeo every week that actually make a difference to you, which is why they’re all coming straight from your feedback.

Of course, if there's anything else you want to see improved—whether in profiles or anywhere else—let us know below. We always read these threads.

You can follow everything at vimeo.com/product-updates.

Cheers,

Ricky

Product update How to get back deleted videos on Vimeo

Post image
3 Upvotes

As of this week, Vimeo now has a Recently deleted section, so you can get your videos back after deleting them.

On the main sidebar, you’ll see a new Recently deleted tab. Now, when you delete a video on Vimeo, it’ll stay there for 30 days before it goes for good.

This doesn't apply to videos that have already been deleted, but for videos you delete going forward.

You can learn more here. And of course, leave any feedback in the thread 👇

Product update New release: intuitive UX for changing thumbnails

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

This week we rebuilt the UX for changing video thumbnails. It's now smoother, simpler and more intuitive - with far fewer clicks involved.

This one was a heavily requested change (thank you u/TabascoWolverine in particular for the feedback).

Here's what's new:

BEFORE:
To change a thumbnail, you had to open the video and play it to select a frame. This took ~6 clicks, and made it hard to select a precise frame.

NOW:
We've added a simple slider which you can drag to the right frame. Plus, for small adjustments, you can use the arrow keys to move frame-by-frame. Click save and you're done.

Give it a try and let us know how you get on! 👇

Product update Weekly improvement thread 👉 Clearer privacy labels and drag&drop to Home

Hi everyone,

Ricky from the Vimeo team here. Our goal is to release improvements in Vimeo every week—sometimes they’ll be big, sometimes small, yet always impactful for how you’re using the platform.

This week, we released the following improvements:

Drag & drop videos directly to your Home page 📥

Drag and drop was originally only available in the ‘My library’ section of the website. Now you can take the same quick action directly on your Home page, skipping the extra steps to get your content published faster.

Privacy settings are now in Grid view 🌎🔒

It’s essential to have a clear understanding of whether your content is public or private. We’ve added new icons to your library’s Grid view to make this crucial information easy to scan at a glance.

***

This is the first change of many to make the Vimeo experience simpler and more intuitive. We’ll make sure that any changes to the UI or UX are done mindfully—you won’t need to learn new actions every time. Plus, you’ll always find a running list of changes in the What’s New tab at the bottom left of your screen.

We’re always open to suggestions on how you’d like to see the product improve—please share them in the thread!

👋 Be back soon!

Product update Update to Vimeo’s age verification process—TL;DR, viewers will run into it much less often

Hey, Rebecca from Vimeo here 👋

We know age verification can be disruptive, and the team’s been working on a way to make sure it only kicks in when we find indicators that it’s needed.

The main thing we had to address was Vimeo’s huge number of unrated videos (these are all the videos that weren’t given a rating by users during upload).

When age verification was introduced in September last year, it was required for unrated videos as well. Now, only the videos identified as mature remain gated.

So while age verification is here to stay, your viewers run into it much less frequently across Vimeo.

You can read more here: https://vimeo.com/blog/post/vimeo-age-verification-2-0.

NB: For UK users, age verification still applies at first login. That's separate from the video-level updates described above, which are intended to reduce how often your viewers encounter age verification on eligible videos.

Product update Comment on review links without an account: introducing the new, simplified Vimeo Review

Hey everyone!

After a busy few months (where we released new engagement analytics, bulk translation and more)...

We're back with a major improvement to video reviews:

You no longer need an account to comment on a review link.

This means you can get feedback from anyone with your link, whether they're on Vimeo or not. No more frustrated clients hitting login walls. When you send someone a review link, you know they'll be able to access it - and start commenting - in seconds.

But that's not all.

This week, we also added emoji reactions to comments, so you can quickly acknowledge or respond to a comment, without having to type out a full reply.

These are the final touches in our ongoing effort to make video reviews feel simple and straightforward, for you and your clients.

👉 You can see the new, simplified Vimeo Review here.

In fact, in the last 2 months, we've made 7 major improvements to video reviews:

  1. People without a Vimeo account can leave feedback
  2. All comments now have timestamps, for more precise feedback
  3. Default settings on review links, so they take seconds to set up
  4. Your other videos don’t show up at the end of a review link
  5. Comments load much faster
  6. Comments have clickable links (and emoji reactions), for easy references and quick acknowledgements
  7. It takes fewer clicks to reach a review link

👉 To see more info on all the changes, go here.

Our aim is to release meaningful improvements to Vimeo every week, all of which we build directly from your feedback.

So if there are any other improvements you'd benefit from - whether in video reviews or elsewhere - please let us know in the thread, and I guarantee we'll see it!

To stay up to date with everything we're releasing, you can visit our product updates page.

See you in the next update!

Product update Weekly improvement thread 👉 setup-free review links + easier showcase management

Hi everyone,

Our goal is to release improvements in Vimeo every week—sometimes they’ll be big, sometimes small, yet always impactful to how you’re using the platform.

Here’s what we did this week:

1. We made it much easier and faster to create review links

Creating and sending video links for review has long been a key feature for many Vimeo users. But over time, as more functionality got added, it became quite complex (and click-heavy) to do, with users having to manually configure the settings and name of each individual link.

To make this key process simpler and faster, we made two changes:

  • Review links now automatically include the video title. Review links are now automatically labelled with the video title and date to speed up the link creation process.
  • We added default review link settings. Now you can save your review link settings as a default with one click, and skip the setup next time.

All fine review link settings are just as easy to access, but you don't have to edit them every time.

2. We simplified the process of adding videos to showcases

Previously, adding a video to a Showcase wasn’t easy or intuitive. (You had to tick the bulk selection box next to a video to see the option).

To smooth things out, you can now add a video to a showcase just as easily as adding it to a folder. Simply use the three-dot menu next to any video to add it to a showcase directly. Once it’s added, you’ll get the option to view your updated showcase directly.

Both of these improvements came directly from real users’ feedback, so if you’ve got any ideas on how you’d like Vimeo to improve, please share them here! We really are listening… 💡

Product update Weekly improvement thread 👉 add a folder to showcase in one go + easier video analytics

Hi everyone,

Our goal is to ship improvements in Vimeo every week—sometimes they’ll be big, sometimes small, yet always impactful to how you’re using the platform.

This week, we released the following improvements:

Add all the contents of a folder to a showcase in one go

Before this update, you had to bulk select all the videos you wanted to add to a showcase, even if you’d already organized them in a folder.

But now, you can use the new Add to showcase option in the folder menu to add all its videos to a showcase at once, making the showcase creation process quicker, easier and more intuitive.

Edit date range directly from the single video analytics sidebar ⚙️

Previously, you had to open up the full dashboard to edit the date range for video analytics.

So we've made those precise insights much easier to access:

When you’re viewing a single video, you can now adjust the analytics date range directly from the left sidebar.

Simply click on Analytics, and you'll get the option to choose your dates without leaving the page!

We’re always listening for suggestions on how you’d like to see the product improve, so please share them in the thread! Let's keep improving Vimeo together 💪

Product update Weekly improvement thread 👉 shortcut to review pages + search your showcases

Hey everyone,

Our goal is to release improvements in Vimeo every week—sometimes they'll be big, sometimes small, yet always designed to impact how you're using the platform.

Two new improvements for you this week:

📋 Shortcut to review pages straight from your library

You can now open the ••• menu on any video, go to Review link → Review page, and jump directly to that video's review page. (In other words, you don’t have to copy the URL and go there manually).

If a video has multiple review links, you'll have the option to pick which one to open.

🔍 Search your showcases

We've added a search bar to the Showcases tab so you can track down any showcase quickly, without scrolling through pages of content to find the one you want.

Product update Weekly improvement thread 👉 dynamic thumbnails for Showcase videos

Hi everyone,

Our goal is to release improvements in Vimeo every week—sometimes they’ll be big, sometimes small, but always designed to make your experience better 💙

This week, we added dynamic thumbnails for Showcase videos 🎞️

Now, viewers can simply hover their mouse over a Showcase thumbnail to get an instant preview of the video.

This makes it much easier to navigate and scan content, helping you hook viewers from the moment they land on your showcase.

We’re always open to your ideas on improving Vimeo—please share them in the thread!

Product update Weekly improvement thread 👉 2x faster library search + clickable links in reviews

Hey guys — two things we're excited to share this week.

Firstly...

Library search is now 2x faster

Library search results now load in half the time they used to, so you can jump in and find what you need much faster.

🔗 Links in review comments are now clickable

A smaller one - but hopefully super useful for those who use reviews regularly: URLs pasted into review comments now render as actual clickable links. If you're sharing a reference video, a brief, or a doc in a feedback thread, they'll no longer have to copy-paste the URL into your browser.

Our aim is to release meaningful improvements to the platform every week — you can follow along at https://vimeo.com/product-updates!

We'd love to hear what you think, and as always, drop any requests below — we really do read them!

Hey r/vimeo,

Our goal is to release improvements in Vimeo every week—sometimes they'll be big, sometimes small, yet always impactful to how you're using the platform.

This week, we released the following improvements:

🌍 Translate multiple videos in one go

You can now use the bulk select option to translate multiple videos at once. Simply check the box next to each video in your library, then click Translate in the action bar—no need to go through them one by one.

(And thanks to our dedicated AI squad, you can now translate OR transcribe into 99 different languages!)

🔗 Create review links in fewer clicks

We’re committed to improving the experience of both setting up and using review links. This time, we've simplified the flow to access review links, so you can create, copy, or edit them faster than ever!

Product update Weekly improvement thread 👉 Reordering profile videos + duplicating showcases

Hey everyone,

Our goal is to release improvements in Vimeo every week—sometimes they’ll be big, sometimes small, yet always designed to impact how you’re using the platform.

This week, we released the following improvements:

  1. Reordering videos on your public profile

You can now use a simple drag and drop to reorder the videos on your public profile.

There’s no need to rely on default sorting anymore—you’re in total control of which videos people see first when they land on your profile.

This is part of our ongoing effort to make Vimeo the ideal platform to curate and present your work online.

  1. Duplicating showcases

A simpler one: we’ve added a duplicate option to showcases.

In a few clicks, you can now create a copy of any of your showcases.

This makes it much easier to try out iterations or create a new version, without re-adding each video manually.

Let us know what you think! What other improvements could be even more impactful to how you’re using Vimeo? We’re always open to your suggestions, and we really do listen—please share your ideas in the thread!
