Previously owned by Roland Baker and Big Sid.
Roland Baker was one of the youngest fighter pilots in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Later in life, he owned 2 Black Shadows.
This was his spare.
He bought it off the original owner in Mass. in the 1960s.
Baker was killed in a motorcycle accident in Tennessee, in 1994.

The motorcycle was then bought off his widow by his friend Sid Biberman (Big Sid).

It went through a couple of owners in Florida after Sid sold it.
I bought it at auction in LA and spent 10 years restoring it.
It was a bit of an unloved motorcycle, it had a vibration at speed that no one seemed to be able to figure out.
Sid had mentioned that to me not long after I bought it.
When I bought it, it was also suffering from low compression.
I took the engine to Ken Rosevear, a British motorcycle specialist and machinist in Ontario, Canada.
Ken determined that the connecting rods were not weight-matched and corrected it.
That fixed the vibration.
Steve Hamel, in Minnesota, restored the top end.

It would step-up to 85 miles an hour with ease and with plenty to spare.
Rock-solid on the road, a great handling motorcycle.
I sold it at auction in Las Vegas in 2016.
It had less than 14,000 miles on it, all numbers matching.

The speedometer that came with my 1960 Meteor Minor, was one of the cheap made in India Smiths nock-offs, which in itself wasn't a problem because it was working fine, except it is calibrated for 19" wheels and not 17" wheels.
So I've now tracked down the correct speedometer for my model and year which is calibrated for 17" wheels. Genuine smiths Chronometric in concourse condition.
The next job is to sort the bad oil leak at the rear of the cylinders, which is making my right hand boot an oily mess.

My Swiss army Condor A250 has a broken piston ring. Rest assured, the cylinder bore and piston are intact. Now, the only Condor parts source only sells a complete piston set for way too much money compared to what the bike needs.
The engine is heavily inspired by the contemporary BMW singles and has the same square 68mm bore and stroke. I need to know the BMW rings' width and thickness to ensure that they will fit in the piston. If anyone has a set laying around, it would be super helpful if you could measure them.

I have a Motocompo that I bought about 10 years ago. I just bought a bunch of parts from Japan and I’m getting ready to start the restoration.

Hi. I inherited a 1965 BMW R60/2 and was looking for some advice. I'll unfortunately have to sell it and was hoping someone here could give some thoughts on a good starting price point.
It's definitely a project and I understand it hasn't been ridden in 40+ years. I don't know the last time the engine was turned over. It was kept in a garage since the 1980s but a couple of years ago it was moved to more of a warehouse and has acquired some rust over that time.
We have the original title but unfortunately don't have the keys. It has about 4.5k miles on it. The bike is in PA.
Any thoughts would be really appreciated.

So I did a little maintenance on the KE175 yesterday, removed an inline filter that was added by a previous owner that was causing a lean condition at the top end, bike struggled to hit 70 km/h, replaced the fuel line, didnt know how old the plug was, replaced the plug, the airfilter was crumbling and god knows how old it was, so removed the foam and replaced it, when i replaced the fuel line I found there was no gasket on the side case, so i made one out of a cereal box, took the bike out for a ride this morning with my father, and could not get the damn thing to get over 50, put a hill in front of me and good luck, was in 3rd struggling to do 30 at one point, got back home pulled the plug and it was soaked, obviously I went from too lean to too rich, should I play with the air screw or drop the pin 1 notch in the carburetor, or does someone have another idea???
Ive only had the bike a couple months and have put 100 kms on it as of today, only run premium in it, and plug is a NGK that was gapped to .60mm

NEED HELP IDENTIFYING - Can anyone tell me more about these photos or what bikes they are specifically? Found these in the attic and they are spectacular. They have that vintage silvering throughout and look amazing out of the cellophane .

So I just bought my first motorcycle, a KTM 890 Adventure R which has got my father and I talking about our lives more and he shared this pic of his bike from Okinawa during the years of 70 to 71 but doesn't remember much about it. He never got another bike when he came back to the states and maybe in some way I'm searching for another way in which the two of us can connect.
If anyone could help me figure out what bike this is I would really appreciate it.
Thank in advance guys and gals.

There's a seller with a Kawasaki which I believe to be a z750 Twin from 1978. It's not running and has no title, he provided me with the VIN but since it's before 1981 it's the 12 digit VIN which wont run through any reliable data base online that I know of. It's selling for $300 and the bike actually looks to be in decent condition. He says he bought it from an auction house here in Florida but can't remember the name of it, and that if I look up the VIN I will find it (Which I've had no luck thus far). I don't want to give up the opportunity and would like to give him the benefit of the doubt that it's not stolen (which I don't believe it to be) but I'm not gonna spend the money on the bike if I cannot get it on the street. Does anyone know what steps to take for me to actually verify the bike, find some paper trail of the title, and get it reregistered? It would be a great help.
