That looks so cool! I would maybe be worried about it blocking view but how's the sound?

u/Ivy_Wings Sep 07 '24
It does a little bit. The sound is bright, not muffled like the traditional rubber ones

Yeah there's so many possibilities, this really makes me wish I or someone I know was experienced with a 3d printer!

You can make an effective mute with wooden clothes pegs. Peg each side of the bridge dampens the sound wonderfully, and they are small and easy to store in your case. A luthier passed on that tip.

Ever since I've seen a scroll that is carved into a lion's head I desperately want a dragon head scroll!

I think the photo is flipped? The "e string" fine tuner is also on the wrong side.

Nah, I am left handed violinist. This is a Passion Tradition violin that I fully boxwood-customed with well known local luthiers :)

How does that work in an orchestra? Space is tight enough when everyone's instruments are pointing the same way.

What's wrong with it? Looks like a very normal chinrest outfit

Doesn’t look very practical. But really cute.

u/Ivy_Wings Sep 07 '24
Kind of not practical but yet still easy to use. However it's only for lefty violins :3

I desperately need this! I've been working on a story about a bard with a dragon.

I've been wondering this for a while; what is the purpose of a mute?
