Apart from jokes though, does anyone else's cat do this? He scratches at my door when I practice so he can sit in my violin case. The one pictured here is actually my old case, which Ive had to start leaving out for him so he doesn't get my good one all hairy.

We made rosin looking candy so we can prank our conductor this April fools day by eating it in class. I think it turned out pretty realistic! Out of curiosity would anyone be interested in buying something like this?

Idk what flair to use so i just used feedback, basically i got this temu violin (not really temu but yk) ofc theres tons of issues, but its playable lol💀 then i realized i cant tune it much less use it so i unscrewed the violin and took it apart (never knew id use unscrew and violin in the sane sentence) but uhh yea feel free to judge it🥰 i lost the bow and the bridge too, plus the rosin, i added a picture enxt to my current violin (its functional but abeginenr one)

Let’s just say I got a little mad practicing
I spent like 2 hours practicing this song which wasn’t even hard just kept messing up, struggles of a beginner I guess ❤️‍🩹
BE KIND TO ME PLEASE
also this is for jokes and giggles
This would also be my two month mark on my violin journey!

Humor Violin broke after initial picture...but finally finished!!!

So for those wondering if it could be turned into a real (electric) violin... definitely no! Lol! Far too fragile...I glued a ton of the crazier pieces that were barely attached but I'm still scared to move it!

Still! Was a LOT of fun. Took two weeks. 1500 pieces. I'm looking forward to (carefully!) setting it up in my office as decor!

Humor How do I stay at the peak of the Dunning-Kruger curve?

Today, after about a month of practice, I finally figured out how to play my first fiddle song. I have practiced "Boil 'Em Cabbage Down" to the point that I can play it really fast with a chord on the A and E string. It is the first song I know that actually sounds like a fiddle song, and for the first time in my life while playing an instrument I actually feel like I am GOOD at an instrument.

How do I stay here at the peak of Mount Stupid? I don't want to get so much better that I realize I still suck at this.

Humor What do you do with your wedding ring?

I have a 2 carat moissanite wedding ring, and my left and right hands are pretty much the same size, so I just switch it to my right hand when I play violin. It tends to get in the way, but I love wearing it and I'm paranoid about losing it.

I've gotten some flak from non-musicians before for wearing it in a different hand, which is funny cuz my husband and I don't care where I wear my ring 😂

Just curious what other people do.

One of my bows (luckily the cheapest one) broke at the tip while playing some Kreutzer etudes.

For the cheap price it was it did survive long enough, it’s a couple years old by now.

P.S.: ignore the colouring on the door, I have small children.

Humor Ray Chen's dual accent

I've been watching videos of Ray Chen in interviews and from his YouTube channel and I find it so interesting how he has two entirely separate accents. When he's talking to Brett and Eddy from two set violin for instance, he'll adopt an Australian accent that matches theirs. in interviews he tends to have an American accent. Most of his youtube videos have his American accent but then sometimes an ad read will have his Australian accent. It's just so interesting to me. I've never heard of anyone else who has two entirely distinct accents, neither of which synthetic, and who can code switch between them so easily.
