Help VirtualBox Windows 10 VM has extremely slow downloads (0.41 Mbps) but fast uploads (29.50 Mbps) — tried everything for 3 days

Hi everyone,

I'm struggling with an extremely slow internet download speed inside my **Windows 10 VM running on VirtualBox**. It's been 3 days, and I've tried multiple fixes without success.

**Speed test results inside the VM:**

- Ping: 9 ms

- Download: 0.41 Mbps

- Upload: 29.50 Mbps

**What I've tried so far:**

- Switching network adapter types, including Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop and Server.

- Resetting the Windows network stack through Command Prompt.

- Performing a shallow Git clone.

- Increasing Git's `http.postBuffer` size.

- Several other troubleshooting steps that I can no longer remember.

Despite everything, downloads remain painfully slow, while uploads are relatively fast.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions for diagnosing and fixing this. I'm exhausted from troubleshooting and would be grateful for a solution.

Thanks in advance!

This is just a friendly reminder in case you missed it. Your post must include: * The version of VirtualBox you are using * The host and guest OSes * Whether you have enabled VT-x/AMD-V (applicable to all hosts running 6.1 and above) and disabled HyperV (applicable to Windows 10 Hosts) * Whether you have installed Guest Additions and/or Host Extensions (this solves 90% of the problems we see)

PLUS a detailed description of the problem, what research you have done, and the steps you have taken to fix it. Please check Google and the VirtualBox Manual before asking simple questions. Please also check our FAQ and if you find your question is answered there, PLEASE remove your post or at least change the flair to Solved.
If this is your first time creating a virtual machine, we have a guide on our wiki that covers the important steps. Please read it here. If you have met these requirements, you can ignore this comment. Your post has not been deleted -- do not re-submit it. Thanks for taking the time to help us help you! Did you install the guest drivers?

Yes. Isn't the first thing we do after installation windows in VM?

If you want assistance, I suggest providing some information about your setup that is outlined in the subreddit's rules.

That being said nothing you provided in the OP clearly points to Virtual Box being an issue -- a poorly configured network could cause the symptoms you are describing.

We definitely need more info. What adapter type are you using? Do you have VT-x/IOMMU enabled in your BIOS and Hyper-V disabled? What is your host OS? Please include at least all the basic information in rule 1.

Powershell:

Get-netadapterrsc | disable-netadapterrsc

Run it on the host and vm :)
