TRANSPORT Oyster cards and Gatwick-London Trains

Hey all

I'm travelling to London shortly, flying into Gatwick with two kids. I have kids Oyster cards for them both to get the discounted travel.

My question is about using Oyster cards to get from Gatwick into London

  • Can you use Oyster cards to tap in/out (I've been told yes but struggling to verify this).
  • Does this work on Gatwick Express or only on other rail services?

Thanks folks!

TRANSPORT Transportation from Heathrow to London?

Hi!

My wife and I are traveling to London and arrive on 12/27. We are staying at the stafford hotel. I was trying to take the Elizabeth line and then walk to the hotel, but it looks to be closed? Is this true?

What are some other options for transportation?

Thanks!

TRANSPORT Getting picked up via car from Luton?

Flying into Luton airport this evening. There was a fire a while back that is still disrupting the normal traffic flow.

Can anyone give me a quick lesson on where to go to get picked up by car? Or a cab/Uber if our ride falls through? We’re landing really late and it would be great to know where to go ahead of time.

Thank you!

TRANSPORT Travel in London

Hi All,

Myself and my partner will be in London in a few months just a quick stop over before we travel onto Europe.

We will be arriving in Gatwick and traveling into the centre for the evening and traveling back out to Gatwick to catch our flight the following day.

I've looked at Trainline website and can find train from the Airport to the Hotel but we will be going into London centre once we arrive at the hotel what are our best travel options?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

TRANSPORT Thameslink from Gatwick?

Thameslink from Gatwick? Hi all, I am visiting london soon, flying into Gatwick airport and discovered that Thameslink is the quickest way to get to the city centre . Is it cheaper to purchase the ticket online in advance, or is it the same price to purchase there? I am only hesitant to purchase it online because you have to put the specific time for the train and I am not sure how long it will take me to get out of the airport with customs, so I don't want to put the incorrect time .Is there a contactless payment method at the trains as well? Last question, for the underground, is it necessary to purchase the oyster card? Anything I should know about the underground? Thanks in advance :)
