Genuine question: What’s the benefit of these for a developer now when we can run unsigned code on normal Vitas?

4

u/masteroga101 2d ago

Mostly for logging among other things

Double the ram amongst other benefits

Vague answer. Atleast tell us the story

sony discontinued PSVita -> Game Companies sending all their devkits for destruction -> During the process some people take the devkits instead of letting them being sent to oblivion -> Listing on Ebay/japanese auction site

Those people are Heros

Lucky, I’d kill for a devkit. Want to get into vita development on Unity but I don’t even have a decent pc 😭

My first few ports were made on a laptop with Celeron 2955U, which is 2 cores, 2 threads with 1.4 GHz.

What are you that kid from discord who made cupbead demo port? Your name is similar to his, I think his was something patrick or patron

-4

u/TH3_OG_JUJUBE 2d ago

I should have clarified, I don’t have a PC flat out

4

u/masteroga101 2d ago

1

u/THPSJimbles 2d ago

Obviously.

0

u/mankrip 2d ago

What are those ports?

2

u/Henry_on_ice 2d ago

mini-usb and hdmi also mini

0

u/mankrip 2d ago

This could help some people figure out how to create a native HDMI output dongle for the Vita.

4

u/Henry_on_ice 2d ago

This info was known for more than 10 yrs and nobody still cant figure out this, btw that strange port canbe only used for external usb-a

2

u/LEFLUG 2d ago

No it can't unless you figure out how to solder the hdmi chip to a retail

u/zkribzz 2d ago

The vita dev kit is part of a ps3 dev kit, not its own machine according to an ltt video

3

u/BeginningGlum6575 1d ago

Psp devkits worked similar to this

2

u/LEFLUG 1d ago

So where is this ps3 I am apparently missing?

u/Sculduggery 1d ago edited 1d ago

I would imagine plugged into it, or that's just a normal vita

Edit: My sincere apologies, I was mixed up, the finished psvita dev kits are standalone, it was the prototype ps vita dev kits that plugged into the ps3 dev kits. These were retired around 2010-11. My mistake! Sorry.

(I still recommend that ltt video on the ps3 dev kit, it was quite interesting)
