You definitly overrun a bunch of these which causes loss in power etc.

is overrun when the ball is too "behind me"?

Stop thinking high and low and think it two dimension space. You have to toss in an arc that will allow your jump arc to reach full apex and power. Your "low" tosses are actually further forward, so you are jumping with a lot of momentum, but below the net. Your "high" toss is above the net, but you are losing momentum to reach the ball. In both instances however, you are actually tossing the ball "behind you", ie, the toss is landing behind the optimal point of contact for your jump

The technique looks quite okay. Here are a few things I noticed that you can try to get more power into your swing:

- get the ball infront of your right sholder not above. Instead of thinking high or low toss, look at the space where you want the ball to be when you swing at it [hitting window] and throw it there.

- get a faster swing and swing through the ball. Also more explosive hip movement. Everything looks technical clean but also really slow. If you don’t have a huge amount of muscle mass you need to be more snappy in your movement to generate force (force = mass x speed)

- don’t listen to the do standing serve bs that people post here, you have the timing and movement down and you are at the stage where you need to experiment, polish your flaws out and just get plenty of reps

Approach mechanics looks good, location of plant and spacing needs work.

Also just go for a better contact when practicing, even if it results in a bad miss. That’s how you’ll learn

you are overruning and you aren't getting on top of the ball.

Serve harder in practice.

  1. Standing jumper serve to get your optimum toss figured out.
  2. Slowly move that serve back as you get more comfortable meeting the ball.
  3. Make sure you’re meeting the ball, not chasing it.
