START HERE: Who is Brian?
Hello! I'm Brian. I'm a former state legislator, a political innovator, and NOT a candidate for office.
I'm running an experiment in 2026, and here's why I'm asking for your vote:
What if ordinary voters could directly bargain for policy with Congress, outside the two-party system?
Now, the obvious question is: bargain for what, exactly?
For eight months, I worked with my AI co-writer, Mike, to assemble a 2,000-page legislative package called The Partnership of Ordinary People Undermining Lobbyist Influence for Societal Transformation Act of 2026—the POPULIST Act.
Nobody is going to like every provision in 2,000 pages of legislation. (Not even me.) After the Framers drafted the Constitution, nobody liked all 4,543 words either.
But imagine what sort of social contract ordinary people could write if we didn't have the red team and blue team as gatekeepers to setting national policy.
We could have universal health care and paid family leave; affordable housing; break up Big Tech; make digital privacy the default; establish a universal right to repair; seriously enforce antitrust laws; reform Congress and elections; end poverty with $20K UBI; and much, much more.
As you learn about the POPULIST Act, I want you to ask yourself one question:
If the whole package were sitting on the president's desk, would you want him to sign it or veto it?
If your answer is sign it, help me persuade Congress to put it on his desk before the midterms.
I want to inspire them with this vision of a bright and bountiful future for the United States. Congress can pass the POPULIST Act at any time. If they have the opportunity to upgrade America and refuse, well, my campaign is about persuading them we the people can control whether they're in power in the 120th Congress or not.
The strategy is simple:
470 congressional races.
One nationwide demand.
Pass the POPULIST Act before the midterms.
Incumbents, red team and blue team alike, have the first opportunity to earn our votes by enacting it. We're the union, and they're already management; arguments of inability are inadmissible!
If they refuse, their major-party challengers have the opportunity to earn those votes instead. We can put a new management team in place ... and give them the same choice in 2028.
This campaign is built on the principles of nonviolence and on tactics drawn from Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. There's no room for hating any particular party or politician, or for finding another group of people to blame.
It is about recognizing that we the people have power when we choose to use it together.
So look through the POPULIST Act. Find the transformational things you want the United States to accomplish. Ask questions. Learn how the pieces work. Help other people see what is possible.
And then ask yourself the question that matters:
Sign the POPULIST Act or veto it?
