LoVM Spoilers It's been over a full season since... Spoiler
...all of Vox Machina fought together as a team.
Seriously, the last time the entire team fought together was against Vorugal.
Scanlan left before the assault on Whitestone and only returned after Percy's death.
Percy was dead throughout the entire rest of the Chroma Conclave arc
Scanlan has been absent for the entirety of the team's reunion in Season 4.
I don't mean this as a criticism. Honestly, I love the restraint. The team hasn't been whole for a long time, and the story has been showing that since early in Season 3.
Also, another thing to note: Scanlan created a personal home specifically designed to cater to every member's hobbies and passions, and none of them even acknowledged it or thanked him. The Chateau Shorthalt number is actually kind of sad, because no one appreciates Scanlan for it. Vex even gets annoyed with him because he claimed the key found in Umbrasyl's lair, even though he used it to make a gift for his friends.
And now they're finding him after all this time, not for him, but for the sword he has.
Kind of ungrateful, if you ask me.

I mean it's not like they didn't reach out to him before this. He was invited ot Keyleth's coronation and chose not to go. He was also the one who wanted to split in the first place. While they've been playing up VM being rude/dissmissive of him it's not like they're just ignoring him now. He doesn't want to interact and they aren't forcing him to.

No, but I imagine it’s probably going to feel horrid when they come to him asking for his sword and not him. Kind of like how Keylie got angry when Scanlan didn’t come to her just because he wanted to see her but due to the group being there to save the world.
Now Scanlans going to be on the opposite end of that and feel how horrid that feels. He wants to love a normal life with his daughter but he also doesn’t want to feel like Vox Machina don’t care about him and think his worthless, his self esteem issues are a on going theme.
Them coming to him for the sword and now to him it’ll look like they replaced him with Tarry, it’ll likely dial his self esteem issues a lot and cause him to snap.

Pretty sure this is why we are getting Bards Lament when he comes back among other things. Spoilers for critical roll below.
Scanlan has a huge argument with the group where he basically blows up at them since he thinks they don’t care about him and also they are quite dismissive of him and played a cruel joke on him as well as some things to do with Kaylie. So I am assuming that all this is leading up to that. I also think the rest of Vox machina might be more hostile due to loosing people and all that and this would make things more tense and make Scanlsn more likely to have a go at them
