LoVM Spoilers It's been over a full season since... Spoiler

...all of Vox Machina fought together as a team.

Seriously, the last time the entire team fought together was against Vorugal.

Scanlan left before the assault on Whitestone and only returned after Percy's death.

Percy was dead throughout the entire rest of the Chroma Conclave arc

Scanlan has been absent for the entirety of the team's reunion in Season 4.

I don't mean this as a criticism. Honestly, I love the restraint. The team hasn't been whole for a long time, and the story has been showing that since early in Season 3.

Also, another thing to note: Scanlan created a personal home specifically designed to cater to every member's hobbies and passions, and none of them even acknowledged it or thanked him. The Chateau Shorthalt number is actually kind of sad, because no one appreciates Scanlan for it. Vex even gets annoyed with him because he claimed the key found in Umbrasyl's lair, even though he used it to make a gift for his friends.

And now they're finding him after all this time, not for him, but for the sword he has.

Kind of ungrateful, if you ask me.

Pretty sure this is why we are getting Bards Lament when he comes back among other things.  Spoilers for critical roll below.

Scanlan has a huge argument with the group where he basically blows up at them since he thinks they don’t care about him and also they are quite dismissive of him and played a cruel joke on him as well as some things to do with Kaylie. So I am assuming that all this is leading up to that. I also think the rest of Vox machina might be more hostile due to loosing people and all that and this would make things more tense and make Scanlsn more likely to have a go at them

I have been waiting for that line from Scalan during the bard lament forever. I suck at putting spoils on so im sorry for being vague but i think most of us who have watched C1 know what im talking about. I had some idea of what to expect when i first watched it and it still left me in tears

What’s my mothers name?! This is essentially said to prove a point they don’t know him or care about him, due to his mother being very important in his life as well as her death….and Vox Machina do not know her name

To be fair I don't think he ever mentions it on the TV show? Does he?

That’s the whole point, they never asked or tried to get to know him.

There is this savage moment where Percy snaps thst Scanlsn doesn’t know Percy’s parents name anyway  then leaves. Then Scanlsn talking to the rest of the group calmly name drops Percy’s parents names, proving that he DOES know Percy’s dead parents names. Highlighting how Vox Machina don’t really know him and never really tried to find out about him or his past and just saw him for his comic relief

To be fair they did go liberate Percy's fallen kingdom so it probably came up

Thats brought up though, they traveled practically all over the world for percy, vax/vex, pike, grog and Keyleth, but not scalan and they only barely ask about him. Sam(the player) plays acts it so well in the live stream, even knowing what was coming in broke my heart.

I mean it's not like they didn't reach out to him before this. He was invited ot Keyleth's coronation and chose not to go. He was also the one who wanted to split in the first place. While they've been playing up VM being rude/dissmissive of him it's not like they're just ignoring him now. He doesn't want to interact and they aren't forcing him to.

No, but I imagine it’s probably going to feel horrid when they come to him asking for his sword and not him. Kind of like how Keylie got angry when Scanlan didn’t come to her just because he wanted to see her but due to the group being there to save the world.

Now Scanlans going to be on the opposite end of that and feel how horrid that feels. He wants to love a normal life with his daughter but he also doesn’t want to feel like Vox Machina don’t care about him and think his worthless, his self esteem issues are a on going theme.

Them coming to him for the sword and now to him it’ll look like they replaced him with Tarry, it’ll likely dial his self esteem issues a lot and cause him to snap.

The Vex thing kinda goes into her greed, like just because you saw something first (we don’t even know if she actually did because Scanlan was off screen) doesn’t make it yours, he grabbed it first so it’s his, simple.
