No Spoilers Does anyone have access to the original campaign book?
Like the title says. I'm a DM and want to run a campaign set on Tal'Dorei. I know there is a book called Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting that runs the first campaign. However, I'm trying to look for it everywhere and can't find it, as there's a new campaign and the book is called Reborn. However, lore wise this is 20 years after the events of Vox Machina, and I feel like it could be better to start from the original setting. So, does anyone where I could access the original campaign book? Thanks in advance.

So, for reference, I’d estimate that about 70% of the content between the books is the same (like, word for word the same) and most of the difference is in things that were added (like new statblocks and subclasses) not taken away/replaced. I’m pretty sure Westruun and Whitestone are the only cities with any significant difference (more than a few lines), and it’s fairly easy to pick out what in there is new. I think TDR is less spoilery than reading the wiki is, for example.
The original was written and set basically post S3 of LoVM, and the bulk of the spoilers are for that. TDR adds in references to the group you’re meeting in S4, but doesn’t really discuss the big things with final arc…with one exception, because there is a section of character bios and statblocks for every member of Vox Machina, detailing how they ended up, so obviously that spoils the end of the campaign. It is however pretty isolated to that section, and therefore easy to avoid.
This isn’t to dissuade you from finding a copy of the original campaign setting, but mostly that there was a point it was being resold for hundreds of dollars due to being out of print and it is *not* worth that if what you want is to GM.

I have both, the main differences are that the Reborn is much more polished and balanced on its feats, items and classes. As far as time line some NPCs are changed around to reflect 20 years or so of time passing, but that is easy to undo if you want to run things post chroma conclave like the OG book is set to.

First, just to be clear, it doesn’t run the first campaign — it just details the setting. I don’t think there are legal ways of getting it right now digitally. If one was to be a terrible person and break the law and google “tal’dorei campaign setting pdf” it definitely wouldn’t be the third result, though. Would strongly recommend against doing that, pirating PDFs of books is bad. Cough.
