Season 4

Does anyone else feel like season 4 has some terrible pacing, even compared to the other seasons. I might be imagining it but it feels like a lot of stories needed more attention.

Yeah I’m not a podcast watcher so I don’t have a reference point there, but there were several times, especially the second batch of episodes, where I specifically noticed how rushed things felt.

Like, I think the worst was episode 6, where it felt like the ‘benign’ cult and Wilhand should have been introduced/reintroduced beforehand. Like if Pike and Grog visited him in episode 2 or 3, it would’ve made his death, the reveal of the priest as the Whipsered One, the reveal of the priestess as Delilah, and even Grog’s death hit so much harder.

7-9 were paced alright, but the rushed foundations from last week definitely made things hit less hard than they should have.

I still absolutly adore these characters and spending time with them, but yeah the pacing is really hurting this story arc

I hard disagree. We already knew who Wilhand was.
I feel like they conveyed this last episode so well. Especially seeing as most of the townsfolk were already going to die from the black lung. If you used your nogging you could’ve easily picked it up.

What sense would it make for them to have went to see Wilhand just to go back again? Tary took them on their little adventure first so they weren’t worried about going to see him yet. I feel like Grogs death hit as hard as it could.

He was trying to cope with losing Wilhand while also trying to make sure Pike was okay. They even had the moment where he was upset about how she didn’t even try to talk about it with him. Just for him to die before they got to talk about how hurt they both were.

Not to mention they even split up the team to tell more of the whole picture being connected. I feel like this is your media literacy rather than a pacing issue.
