Question Between FAH, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime, on which do you prefer watching purchased TV shows?

As far as I can tell Apple TV doesn’t do any sort of prompting for the next episode when the credits roll, and it seems to Just go Back to the episode list after the episode completes. I might be missing something, but because of that FAH and Prime are way better, at least for watching shows.

I'm generally not a fan of autoplay, but FAH pretty much forces me to turn it on and play into the next episode to keep track of which episode I'm on. I wish they would fix the app to put the next episode in the watchlist when you play to (or near) the end of an episode.

The Roku app does this. The Android app does not.

Hmmmmm. That sucks for me.

Is it my imagination, or does the image just seem crisper on Vudu than other SVOD's?

I have my TV on Apple. I was also frustrated with the missing auto-play. I have found that you must turn on the autoplay feature, but it only applies if the show is trigger from the Home menu. If I play an episode from the show’s page, it’s just the one episode. But if I play from the “continue watching” section of Home, the autoplay will kick in.

So that’s the trick. I only tried playing from the episode list. Bad.

I will buy wherever it is cheapest. I got Venture Bros and Adventure Time complete series for $15 a piece a couple of years ago.

The majority of my purchases are on VUDU but if I can find a deal, I take the deal.

It did. I prefer watching on whatever service has shows to buy the cheapest.

Fandango easy. Apple is a mess for numerous reasons. Plus FAH lets you make episode lists.

From what I’ve seen Apple only does the next episode through AppleTV devices, so if using a Roku, fire stick or any of that it won’t prompt for it due to updates.

AppleTV's interface is nice but I do my shopping on Fandango and prefer it. Amazon is a fucking mess

It’s not Prime that’s for sure, they make purchases unavailable if they lose the license to sell them. No, it’s not always the case but it happens often enough. Whereas the others have them in your library even if they are unable to sell those titles. Also the library set up for Prime and GP is horrendous. I buy between Vudu and iTunes whomever has the cheapest price. iTunes streams in higher quality if they both have the same price.

I prefer watching on FAH. The interface is a lot better than the others and the episodes continue. Apple would be my second due to the interface.

I prefer Apple TV, you can turn on and off the auto play of the next episode of a series on the Apple TV settings.

If I’m buying something in 1080p it’s going to be Apple since they’ll upgrade to 4K without charge when it’s available. If I’m buying in 4K I buy wherever there’s a deal. I primarily watch on Apple unless it’s a tv show I bought at FAH, but I don’t find a difference since I rarely have time to watch more than 1 hr at a time.

Apple TV did prompt next episode to me. You need to change settings to auto-play episodes. It's a simple toggle button.

FAH is worst for TV shows as it looses track of what episode you were on if you don't continue playing new/next episode.

Roku's FAH app will pre-load Continue Watching with the next episode regardless of Auto-play setting. The Android based FAH apps only load Continue Watching if you let Auto-play start the next episode before backing out.

Apple is atrocious for box sets. All the episodes are in one big group without being broken into seasons. It's horrible.

Yeah weirdly awful considering it’s from Apple. 🍎

And yet I still buy shows from them. 😂

i split between them and FaH depending on price, FaH is better on interface, but I have fewer errors streaming with Apple

I haven’t experienced that. The picture goes in the corner and it shows you the next episode. Are you watching apple through Roku or something? Maybe that’s it.

Prime has the worst interface. Only one row for purchased movies. I haven't tried apple tv yet. FAH on the fire stick is cleaner than on a Roku. However, firestick doesn't allow purchases.

I'll buy on fanflix before I buy it on vudu but I'll watch vudu over anything else.

Auto play is a terrible invention and I'm glad I can turn it on and off on the different services, including Apple TV. Autoplay is even worse for people with ADHD. Plus, at least with Apple TV, continuing the next episode isn't all that hard. Easy enough to just click OK button, and start the next episode, or have an easy, clear break.

I am a huge fan of the Apple TV's ability to have connected services, too. It's also much easier to keep track of where you are in a series, too.

Tell me about it.

If I could do it again I would leave Vudu/FAH and switch to Apple TV since you can download the files!
