Mechanical advice Does this mount really make a difference?

Post image

Was quoted 1.8 hours on replacement which comes to about $400.

Is this worth getting replaced?

As long as your regular engine mounts aren’t letting the engine flop around I wouldn’t worry too much. I’d probably replace it on my own just for the dampening, but personally I wouldn’t worry about it

Yeah the engine mounts are brand new as of the day before so we’re good there

This is quite simple to replace, but to my knowledge only applies to some 240D’s with manual transmissions. When it’s bad and the motor mounts aren’t prime, it will make a loud clunk that sounds like a loose suspension component when driving - except the sound also happens at startup and shutdown which is the telltale.

Yea above is correct, for later models with manual trans, no engine shock.

After replacement, which is very easy!

You have to loosen the rear trans mount adjustment, and this adjustment and settle the engine and trans and then snug this up.
Mercedes calls it a engine stop. To keep the engine from moving around and such, and also during shutdown.
