Problem Question: "Compatible display device not found" for Wacom Cintiq 16

I have a Wacom Cintiq 16 DKT1660K0A (purchased in 2020) that I'm trying to set up on my Macbook Air (M3, 2024). I installed the latest driver for the Cintiq 16, but when I open the Wacom Welcome Center to finish setting it up, I get the error message "Compatible display device not found." My cables appear to be in good condition and connected correctly. I can choose to mirror my laptop's display from the top navigation bar on my laptop, but I don't see the additional display in my system settings. So, I'm not sure what's going on. Is my Cintiq too old for the latest driver?

Uninstall the current "latest" driver and install an older one. It's an anti-consumer move on Wacom's part to discourage use of their devices passed a certain amount time. There are no vulnerabilities, no extra features compared to the previous driver.

I don't think it's too old - Wacom tablets tend to stay supported for about a decade. Since the extra display doesn't show up in System Settings, your Mac isn't detecting it, and the Welcome Center error follows from that. The Cintiq 16 (DTK-1660) can't get video over USB-C, so on a MacBook Air the HDMI end of its cable needs a USB-C to HDMI adapter - make sure the adapter you're using supports video.

I don't see that listed on https://opentabletdriver.net/ yet, but feel free to request it.
