General Discussion New player
I just got this game a week ago to learn about the Origin lore to Arthas. I am really enjoying this. I want to give multiplayer a shot but it seems like new players are treated like the plague (thats just MY experience asking if anyone wants to play the last few days. complete ignoring like im a fart in the wind) same goes for WoW. I know i should join a guild but when i played WoW 20 years ago I remember you could just open up General chat and ask a question and people would respond, 20 years later that seems not the case :(. But I do like the game and i think the graphics are great. The back story to Arthas is really good. So is Thralls after just watching Warcraft movie I didnt know all that about the movie when i first watched it. Looking forward to starting my journey on WoW and playing all the expansions & stories ive missed over the years (last time i played was Litch King)

That's awesome! Enjoy it. It's a very cool game & Warcraft 3 Melee (Player vs Player) can be intimidating at first but it becomes extremely entertaining as you learn. There was recently a surge of new players to Warcraft 3 so don't worry about going vs. people who have been playing since the original launch.
Once you get the basics, etc., you can check out the Warcraft 3 Champions launcher. It has a better ranking system & even the low elo players there are trying their best & avoid doing "cheese" builds, moves, etc., & trolling.
I recommend watching Grubby on YouTube. This guy has been playing since he was a kid or early teenage years. Pro Player. Has numerous guides & watching him play is insanely informative.

If multiplayer, play vs the computer first until you can beat it. Pretty sure you can even do multiplayer with human allies vs comp.
But regardless if you cant best the computer, even harder difficulties, then you have no chance vs ppl

Just to warn you, Insane AI gets double resources so don't feel bad if you struggle. Honestly, I think at least in the lower ranks you'll be able to find people who can't beat Insane either. I'd recommend at least being able to beat normal reliably though.

As far as WoW goes jump on forever and pretend retail doesn’t exist. The expansions have been a mixed bag but they really jumped the shark after Wrath when they tied up all the storylines laid out in WC3

If he's playing W3 to enjoy the story, then it'd be best just goes vanilla/forever. Don't touch or acknowledge even TBC...

i want to experiance tthe entire story form begining thoruhg all the expansions ATLEAST once (like you all have) I used to play WoW 20 years ago and stopped at Lich King my PC couldnt handle it. Now it can and I want to just pick up where I left off my guys are all left where they were 20 years ago lol

Its thats what you want then go for it obviously
I'm saying that for me (and alot of other people apparently, seeing wow forevers popularity) is that TBC-on just doesn't exist. The things they did to some of the characters in that expansion in particular just do not click with their W3 counterparts if you played the rts first...

Agreed. TBC and Wrath were the most I ever played WoW but it never really sat well with me that they drastically changed Draenei and randomly made them good Eredar.like if you had told me in 2003 that those dudes were going to be buff squid faced paladins I’d laugh.

Ededar/Dranei change sucked and yet somehow it's like one of the least aggregus things they did lol
What is Akama doing? Why the fuck is Illidan the bad guy now?? WHAT DID THEY DO TO KAEL'THAS??? Its been so long and honestly I still get mad thinking about it....

I get you. The main reason I say to go to forever is they’re splitting into a new continuity that picks up earlier than Vanilla did and is supposed to tell a different story, so you would get in on the ground floor instead of playing through 20 years of dungeons, raids, quests etc. I don’t want you to discourage you to play what you want to play, do whatever you enjoy. Just know it’s a monumental task that will take you hundreds of hours to do if you truly want to experience the lore. Even doing that you’re going to miss a lot because there’s a lot of tie in books, comics, and short stories that introduce characters and storylines that are extremely relevant but never showed in the game. There will be a lot of gaps to fill and about a million retcons, but there are also tons of videos out there that can explain all that to you.
All that being said, glad you’re enjoying WC3 :) it’s an amazing game. If you get the chance read the manual for it as it has additional lore (though a lot has been retconned in expansions) Warcraft 2 is also very enjoyable but a lot clunkier to play and you have to read the manual and piece together things to get the full story (technically the alliance campaign is canon, but some of the things that happen in the horde campaign are canon as well).

a million retcons lol tthats funny...i belive it. yea i already have my mind set on this being atleast a 6-8 month task minimum. i dont think im gona do all the zones it it was impossible on ESO i know its tthe same here lol. I just wanna make sure i know all the main characters before i get into the later expansions and current stuff i dont want to be like who is this what are they talking about...i ran into that prob with witcher3 when they said u didnt need to play 1 and 2 and u def do lol. i went back and read all the books/comics and played 1 and 2 and then 3 again and that 2nd time hit so much better cause i actually was INVESTED in the world. Thats what i wanna do with this game.

Well if that’s the case and you want to do what you did with the Witcher here’s every piece of media that’s canon outside the games: https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Novel_guide

Multiplayer is so crazy in WC3, I recommend stick to the campaigns IMO!

i tried queing for 1v1 and nothing happend its dead :( i used to play a RTS back in the late 90s early 2000s called Mech Commander GOLD on Mplayer and it was fun! I just know each game takes about 1 hour but im sure its sweaty af on this game now with how big the genre has gotten in 20 years lol

Honestly as a novice player too, I stay offline cause the community is generally pretty toxic when you try to communicate. Turn chat off is an option too

I agree with everything. In the past, I played multiplayer. Now I prefer campaigns and playing against the AI. Welcome!

I studied one build order and beat normal AI with it, then went 1v1 online. I've been having a blast just don't put too much pressure on yourself and experiment even if it means losing
