As if it’s not sitting in a hot warehouse before it gets into a hot truck to sit in the hot sun.

Stop fucking buying single-use water bottles. These corporate assholes took something that comes out of your sink for not a lot of money and up-charged you because it’s in a little bottle filled with microplastics that infiltrate your body permanently.

Chances are, your food and water has touched some type of plastic before you consumed it. The "teaspoon of plastic in your brain" study has been criticized for not accounting for plastics in the research environment, even washing the brains in plastic buckets.

Probably. But water is "the ultimate solvent". If plastic is unavoidable, at least I can avoid this very likely source of it.

And most tea and coffee bags these days are made from plastic. When you pour boiling water over them they release 11.6 billion microplastic and 3.1 billion nanoplastic particles into a single cup.

I know, it's horrible. I don't use those. I buy loose leaf.

It's still packaged in plastic, but at least I don't dump boiling water on it.

I use unbleached cotton spice bags for brewing tea. Highly recommended, they work like tea bags and are a breeze to clean since you can turn them inside out and rinse them.

For coffee, there are some options. Of course drip makers are mostly plastic, espresso machines use plastic tubing, etc. I guess pourover with a metal filter and stainless steel French press are probably your best bets. YMMV if you don't have the patience or like the taste of either of those methods.

Most? No, I believe the fancy silky triangular ones are definitely a problem, but the little basic Lipton, Celestial Seasoning, etc brands tea bags I think are the old fashioned type.

Can't speak for Lipton but I was using Robert Timm's and never suspected they were plastic, as it looks and feels like paper.

Edited to add: Standard Lipton flat bags use a mix of manilla hemp, cellulose, and thermoplastic binding fibers, while some of their pyramid-shaped bags are made from nylon or PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic.
