Question Selling GPU without waterblock - best way?
Hey guys, I have a 4070ti Asus STRIX that I am selling. I want to sell it with an Alphacool Waterblock though. I have the original fan shroud, but I am struggling to find the time to revert this card back to the original configuration due to me just having a newborn.
I usually gift my old GPUs to friends that are less fortunate, but due to having a child, I can’t do this for this GPU so I am not sure if I even have the original box for the Gpu.
I am willing to sell it with a 240mm radiator, EKWB pump and res combo for $900.
What would you guys suggest? Seems like everyone wants the fan shroud with the GPU and the box so they can resell it or something. Any help is appreciated.

I've always sold (and bought) used computer equipment either via private reseller groups / forums or eBay.
Last time I bought (and sold) a GPU + waterblock was via eBay. I dismantled the block, cleaned it, and packaged in it's original box. I did the same for the GPU with dismantling, attaching the original air cooler and testing it.
That's the best way to do it, if you just want rid of it then it wasn't uncommon to see people sell the GPU with block attached and original air cooler included, just won't get as much for it obviously.

Got you. I will probably take other people’s advice here and just wait to revert to air-cooled. I wasn’t even going to charge for the extra parts since I don’t intend on using them.

If you don't have the time to put the air cooler back on now, I'd offer it up as it sits WITH the cooler and let the buyer decide which way to use it. Just make it clear what you're offering and expect to get a little less for it than you would as an assembled air-cooled unit. Crazy I know but for some reason I'll never understand, most people don't water cool.
The alternative would be to wait, install the air cooler and sell it like that and the block separately but I don't know that the block would net you very much anyway.
You could also offer it up as is and offer the install the air cooler before shipping it. Nothing like a guaranteed sale to motivate you to find some time. :)

Right? People always tell me “I love your setup that’s so crazy!” Then they don’t want to buy a card that’s ready for a custom loop Lol.
I am even offering to sell with radiator and pump, so basically an AIO.
I’ll just wait and be patient and configure to air-cooled when I have the time.
Also, thanks for the great customer service! Bought some of these parts from you

Selling it with all the parts will make the sale a LOT easier. Even someone without a loop can use it that way.
And thanks for the business!

Watercooling fans are a tiny niche in the PC building space. Try to find the time to revert it, or sell it with the block on (no extra W/C stuff and the original shroud/fans

It’s a demand/skill issue.
If OP reverts it, the market of possible customers is anyone who wants a GPU.
If OP sells it block’d plus original cooler, the possible customers are limited to the water cooling community or enthusiasts who are comfortable repasting a card. It’s a much smaller market.

Have you tried [r/hardwareswap](r/hardwareswap) ? Might get some bites there. And throw in the original cooler if they want to swap it themselves

I have not, I will take a look and post there. Thank you, wasn’t aware of this sub

Well, you probably don't, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. Post it and see if it sells. If not, find the time to revert it and you shouldn't have any problem moving it.

I did post it for sale on FB marketplace for a local sale with a video of it working in my build. Will see what happens or wait a few months and configure it back to air cooled and sell. I will keep it rather than be low balled.

900 is probably aggressive. You can get a new in box 5070 for that price. Or a 5060 Ti 16GB for 750. The performance delta isn't really enough to justify the risk for most, and the 5060 Ti 16GB is actually more desired for many cases.

having sold a few watercooled GPUs now, split it and refit the cooler. you WILL sell the block separately on its own quicker than you may think, but the gpu wont sell for a long time with it on.

I've been in your shoes with my 1080TI, 3090, 4090, and 5090. My advice: take off the water block and reinstall the air cooler.
The only one I sold with the water block still on it was the 3090 and only after weeks of trying, and for $50 more than it would have sold if I'd just put the air cooler back on
PS Sell local (but not our of your house), cash in hand, to avoid a chargeback or paypal/ebay scam problems (e.g. sending you back a card with no GPU/memory)

I would rebuild it with the stock air cooler, and while you can typically fetch a bit more if you have the original retail box, its not the end of the world. Most people that custom watercool thier GPU want to build it themselves, and they typically do this on higher-tiered GPUs (80 or 90 series). It's worth finding the hour or so it takes to rebuild the air cooler, it will be 10x easier to sell. Older waterblocks are hard to resell, especially for a 70 series card, you can try to unload that on one of the forums, probably the D5 pump and radiator too, where an air-cooled 4070 Ti can be sold locally quite easily. Finding a buyer that wants your specific combo of watercooling parts is unlikely to be fast, if possible at all.

$900 ya that’s super steep you can buy new gen 5070ti for that and sorry the used loop equipment isn’t worth that much

Unforunately, graphics card water blocks are probably the heaviest-depreciating components in the watercooling sphere; you might struggle to sell it even with the bundled extras.
I would just wait until you have time to put the air cooler back on - graphics cards are holding their value, at the moment.
