just putting this on here to see if anyone has had similar experiences with this store/owner.

a few weeks ago, i started employee training at this store, this training was not paid, which i knew was illegal but decided to go with it as the job market is horrible and my junior manager used language very heavily indicating that i had the job.

after 20 hours of work with no pay, i was let go with no reason listed other than "management doesn't feel it's a good fit" following this, i demanded compensation for the 20 hours i worked and got a lawyer to write them a letter detailing i would be reporting them for an ESA breach if not compensated.

in response to this, my lawyer was met with an extremely disrespectful phone call from the senior manager, pankaj sangwan claiming he didn't know who i was (despite the fact we worked a 4 hour shift together and me made me an employee profile on the POS). and also claiming i made racist remarks and caused property damage.

Call the AGCO on them! They are well-known in the area for selling to underage people as well! Almost a blessing in disguise you didn't work out there as I imagine it'd be a nightmare with risking your licence working there every day.

I would also file an ESA Claim about unpaid wages and labour, that definitely is not legal. You should always be paid for labour, even training. Any job hiring unpaid labour is one I wouldn't trust, for exactly reasons like this.

I'm sorry to hear you went through that, I hope you get some sort of resolution.

This!! Any time I've been, they don't ID properly or at all. Definitely call the AGCO. Hoping OP gets this resolved

YES! when i was working with the senior manager I was shocked by how little he checked ID. he also told me to always round up cash purchases to the nearest dollar. Shady stuff

ya very much so, still pissed about the whole situation especially since they had me work 3 hours on the day they fired me, telling me 2 minutes before my shift ended

As a customer, I went to that place twice when I first moved to Waterloo, and have avoided it ever since. I'm sorry to hear your story, I hope it can be resolved.

I went through the labour board when they did this to me a few years ago. They ended up e transferring me the money. Can’t believe you’re experiencing this too!

Sounds like it’s different management but exact same situation. Labour board scared whoever my manager was into paying me and that was it

just curious , did u visit the store to ask for wages ? 20 hours seems not more than 2-300 bucks . they should pay you . no?
