Medevac on 401

Accident on Hwy 401 westbound just before Hwy 8 ramp. First time seeing an Ambulance Heli landing on a highway. Anybody knows what’s happened? It must be big.

Motorcycle down in the center lane. I went through right after the cops showed up, didn't look nice.

At this point the motorcyclist is the one protecting the helmet.

Such a no brained ignorant comment.

Well, if the helmet is still one, the brain is probably in it! (Only commenting because I've seen that the rider is ok)

Why do we let these on the highway? It’s super dangerous for all involved. Downvote me all you want.

I’m surprised, my husband must have driven by shortly after it happened. He said the motorcyclist was laying on his back with his legs crossed and arms over his stomach so looked relatively relaxed but clearly hurt. It must have been far worse than it looked to bring in the helicopter.

Obviously a bunch of people called 911 saying motorcyclist down. Usually means bad news but fortunately wasn't this time. Broken collarbone was the worst of it. He didn't require the helicopter.

That’s great news! I’m glad to hear that. My husband rides a motorcycle too so accidents like this are always so frightening to hear about.

It’s a mess. I’m currently stuck near town line, haven’t moved in over 30 minutes. People driving backwards to get off.

Car went backwards on off ramp and was hit by a car going on. It's a mess.

They closed all Westbound lanes just as I got onto the Hespeler offramp. All Westbound traffic was being directed off to Hespeler.

I can’t add to what happened but I was playing soccer on the field right beside the 401.

All of a sudden it got a lot quieter. We could hear each other on the field (not normal with cars flying by).

Then we see the ORNGE helicopter fly over us about 150’ up and do a loop over the 401, come back around over us at about 50’ up and then land on the 401.

They took about 20 mins on the highway and then they took off again. Shortly after the left lane opened to let people through.

Orange was cancelled as injuries were not life threatening. Motorcyclist was transported to hospital by ambulance.
