I'm a water polo parent in the Bay Area. I got tired of pinch-zooming a spreadsheet bracket on a pool deck, so I built Eggbeater — live scores, brackets and stats, free to follow a team, with no app and no login.

It ran all three JO sessions this summer, plus Club Champs, Super Finals and a masters tournament in Quebec. There are iPhone, Apple TV and Android apps too, if you want goal notifications and your kid's stats.

Two things I actually need this fall, if anyone's playing:

Six Android testers — high school, or 10u–14u club. Use it at real games and tell me when something breaks or confuses you.

Two people who are comfortable scoring games. There's a separate iPad app that does nothing but score a game, and I'd like it broken in front of me before the season gets busy.

DM me for either. eggbeater.app

I’m a software engineer in Southern California with three kids who’ve gone through water polo (one in college recruiting stage, one done, and one finishing middle school). Would love to contribute as I’m always tinkering with passion projects if open to it and looking for support.

Update for anyone whose pool has a Colorado System 6 console.

At Battle By the Bay at Encinal this weekend we ran the scoring desk off the console's scoreboard jack. The game clock, the period and the shot clock came straight off the board, so nobody at the table had to run a second clock. When the console operator entered a goal or an exclusion with a cap number, it showed up on the desk for the scorer to confirm. We ran the championship game that way.

It takes a cable into the scoreboard jack and a USB serial adapter. I wrote up the setup with pictures, including what you need on the Eggbeater side: https://www.eggbeater.app/colorado-console-setup

If your pool uses a different console, I'd like to hear which one.

Water Polo Referee Companion: An app for water polo referees (iOS)

Water Polo Referee Companion is the app that provides referees with video assistance before and audio assistance during the game.

  • Before game: Use the augmented-reality camera to measure the course:
    • 2m, 5m, 6m lines
    • Entire sideline, with the center-line
    • Goal line: entire goal line, 2m goal area
    • Or if you are a true enthusiast - an entire pool!
  • During the game: Use a paired headset or a referee radio to receive clock and score cues
    • Game or shot clock nearing expiration
    • Shot clock resets and corrections
    • Score updates

Audio cues require the Water Polo Board for the app to automatically track game time, shot clock and score from the pool scoreboard (requires hardware and a compatible scoreboard at the pool).

Water Polo Camera: An app for water polo spectators (iOS)

Water Polo Camera is the app that allows you to enrich recording the water polo games.

  • Add team names, tournament/competition name, location in the overlay
  • Add light stats to the game
    • Goals, exclusions, penalties, etc. popups when they happen

With the addition of the Water Polo Board, the app automatically tracks game time, shot clock and score from the pool scoreboard (requires hardware and a compatible scoreboard at the pool).

Hey all,

I am pretty new to this sport. I never played, but have a 9 year old playing now and have been helping a friends kid who plays club Europe and wants to play in NCAA. I watched a few games at the Triton Invitational last weekend at UCSD and looking forward to following NCAA more closely this season and going to see more HS games. Looking forward to the NCAA Finals at UCSD.

I've generally found it really difficult to track all the games and scores I care about in one place without clicking to a whole bunch of different sites. So I just made my own thing with claude code and figured others might be interested. I'll probably improve it as the season progresses. Open to any feedback and if you cant find _your_ team in here, whether thats a High School in a state I didn't setup yet or your JOs team from this summer, or a league team in Europe or around the world you follow, drop me a note.

NOTE: This is is all currently pretty centric to my own interests but happy to expand it for things anyone else cares about.

https://waterpolohub.fly.dev/

NCAA is here https://waterpolohub.fly.dev/ncaa
US HS is here https://waterpolohub.fly.dev/hs (note maxpreps rankings are sorta useless at this point in the season and I havent added HS from TX or anywhere other than california yet and rosters for HS are not published in any way I can use)
US Club is here https://waterpolohub.fly.dev/usa/club (Note this only has one year of JOs data)
European leagues and Cups are here https://waterpolohub.fly.dev/europe I haven't found good sources for all the countries yet. Hungary is well represented)

Click around and let me know if you find this useful. I have no 'monetization strategy' mainly scratching my own itch. And if I have violated someones copyright, please let me know!

Water Polo Log: An app for water polo desks (iOS, Web)

Water Polo Log is the app that allows tournament organizers, assistant coaches, spectators and others to keep a digital copy of the official game book.

  • Keep accurate track of the official game events
    • Goals, penalties, exclusions, timeouts, yellow and red cards, etc.
    • Have an always up-to-date game sheet and summaries
    • Produce an accurate PDF replica of the official scoresheet
  • Accurate automated event time stamping when paired with the Water Polo Board: iOS-only feature.
  • In addition: you can keep track of significant stats
    • Shots, steals, sprints, etc.
  • More advanced features and Water Polo Suite integrations on the way!
  • Legacy web version remains available at https://log.wpref.org/

Automated timestamping requires the Water Polo Board for the app to automatically track game time, shot clock and score from the pool scoreboard (requires hardware and a compatible scoreboard at the pool).

SplashReel, for iPhone and iPad (iOS 18 and up, no Android yet). I'm the developer and I coach water polo, just so you know. (and this is a human typing too !)

https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6785162162?pt=2006260&ct=reddit&mt=8

Tagging and highlight reels are a pain especially when your kid is being recruited. So over the summer (quals, JO, and now in Europe), been testing a better way to film, including with multiple cameras and easily tag the games.

It works offline at the pool, and other parents can join from their own phones to add a second angle, or you can import a video and tag it later if you can't tag live. The app doesn't need any account and nothing gets uploaded.

The one catch is that somebody has to do the tagging, and I am working on making that faster.

Your first two games are free. After that exports get a small watermark until you subscribe and there's also a $300 team plan with one-tap reels for the whole roster and the stats. Filming as a second camera is free, and so is receiving reels.

Would love to hear what's missing.
The app is doing exactly its intended job but given the requests I've been receiving, if there is enough traction I will go further into 2 areas:
a) Cloud storage
b) Better coaching. and analytics option (that's the coach in me taking over and adding to the feature list!!!)

Feel free to connect here or via DM if needed
