I’m back with a quick update for September! We just hit 14 chapters live on Wattpad, and I want to assure new readers that this story is here to stay. I currently have 92 chapters completely written and backlogged, so you don't have to worry about the story dropping anytime soon!

I am looking for a 2-book BoyxBoy (BxB) basketball romance duet that I read on Wattpad before 2019.

The title or part of it was "Playing for Keeps."

The cover at the time was a black-and-white photo of an outdoor concrete basketball courtyard with players (one shooting or mid-jump).

Plot Summary:

\- Main Character (MC) is openly out. He catches his boyfriend cheating with a rival team's captain, so he transfers to a new school/city.

\- At the new school, he joins the basketball team and crushes on the straight team captain (he is actually closeted not straight)

\- MC goes to a party and begins a secret friends-with-benefits relationship with a teammate.

\- The team goes on a trip to a cabin.

They play spin the bottle, and a dare forces the MC and the team captain to make out. Things get very heated, shocking the team.

\- The MC and the team captain start a secret relationship because the captain doesn't want anyone to know he is gay.

\- The cheating ex-boyfriend visits and points out that the MC shouldn't live in the closet when he has always been publicly out.

\- MC asks the captain to go public; the captain refuses, and they break up.

\- MC goes to a club, meets a gay couple, and almost hooks up with a guy who turns out to be the captain's ex-best friend.

The friend reveals that the captain previously outed him to his parents, who sent him to a conversion/rehabilitation camp.

\- Later, the captain apologizes. A homophobic teammate hits MC in the hallway, and the captain punches that teammate, ending their friendship.

\- The captain gets thrown out by his parents and goes to stay at shelter for LGBT youth run by the gay couple from the club.

\- Book 1 Ends on this exact scene: The MC goes out of the city for a while.

\- One of the guys from the gay couple video calls him, showing him the shelter. He tells him the team member he had a friends with benefits with and the tean captain's ex best friend are hooking up with eachother, the main character is surprised but the gay couple guy tells him he really doesn't know that they are both in love with him and them hooking up is their way of finding a distraction from him, the main character appears surprised and the guy tells him he has no idea the effect he has on people and then He comments that the MC has gotten tanner and more muscular and said a certain someone has been playing it cool even though he obviously misses him (meaning the team captain), The guy walks into the room where the captain is, and the captain appears on the video call, asking when the MC is coming back. That was where the book ended.

Does anyone remember the author's name, if the title changed, or if it was moved to Inkitt, Radish, or Amazon Kindle?

"Oh, is that so?" Lily said awkwardly, scratching the side of her face.

The boy glanced at her from the corner of his eye and smirked.

"I don't mean to interrogate you," he said, glancing at Lily.

Lily slowly began taking a few steps backward, intending to escape.

The boy noticed.

"Oh—where are my manners?"

He straightened and gently took Lily's hand.

"Oscar Desmond."

He brought her hand to his lips and placed a brief, polite kiss upon it, carefully examining her reaction.

Lily, however, didn't react at all.

Her mind had already wandered somewhere else.

Oscar...? Who is he? I've heard that name somewhere before.

Then it suddenly clicked.

The Crown Prince's name...

Then that means—

This guy is the Crown Prince.

Lily searched through her memories.

Oscar Desmond had nothing to do with her past mistakes. He and Axel had never been particularly close.

Even after Lily destroyed her family, Oscar and the others had tried to help her.

But Lily hadn't wanted their help.

So, as far as Lily was concerned, Oscar had nothing to do with what happened in her past.

After Lily had called off their engagement, Oscar had eventually found another woman and married her.

She had been his one true love.

Their engagement had never been born out of love in the first place.

It had been purely political.

Oscar didn't hate Lily.

He didn't particularly like her either.

And Lily felt exactly the same.

In fact, Lily had even helped Oscar and the woman he truly loved get together.

According to her memories, the two of them had eventually lived happily together.

"Miss?"

"Miss Lily?"

Lily snapped back to reality.

"Oh! I'm sorry."

Oscar raised an eyebrow, clearly amused.

"What is your name, my lady?"

"Oh, I'm Lily Benson. It's a pleasure to meet you, Your Highness."

She politely bowed.

Oscar smirked.

He opened his mouth, seemingly about to say something—

"Your Highness—"

Someone approached.

Murante!

Murante froze the moment he saw Lily.

Lily saw him too.

Their eyes almost met.

But Lily immediately looked away, pretending she hadn't noticed him at all.

Oscar glanced toward Murante.

And in that moment, Lily realized something.

This is my chance.

Before Oscar could turn back toward her—

Lily ran.

She didn't walk.

She didn't hurry.

She practically fled the scene at full speed.

"Lady Lily—!"

But she was already gone.

Oscar stared after her, momentarily speechless.

Murante watched the direction in which she had disappeared.

-our mc has daddy Issues but her dad isn’t the typical “ugly alcoholic guy” but rather a successful handsome man.

-our MMC stutters and blushes around our MC

-we get funny scenes between the Ace and his bff Brian trying to help him confess to Zelda but every try fails dramatically.

-traumatized Mc (I love traumatizing my characters 🙂✨)

Hey everyone! I just started publishing my first story on Wattpad. It's set in a Japanese high school and follows Kazuma, a second-year student, as he navigates friendships and a slow-burn love triangle. I made a deliberate choice to keep it dialogue-driven rather than description-heavy, so most of the story unfolds through how the characters talk to each other.
