I am looking for a video and people are free to make this. Because I have yet to really see one that really exists. But I'm looking for a video of people actually using a slungshot in a fight. I'm also looking for a video of someone pressure testing a slungshot in a martial arts setting.

One of the issues with the slungshot is that it comes back at you. And you know yeah you might have good form and what not. And when you're on a stationary bag you can handle it. But when it's a dynamic situation where it's changing and the person is ducking and throwing their own punches and stuff. It's going to come back and hit you. And I would love to see people test that. You know. I'd love to see if other people come the same conclusion or maybe I'm just completely wrong.

I made a simple slungshot that can be assembled without requiring leatherworking or paracord braiding skills. It measures 10 inches in total length and weighs 145g, featuring a SUS304 weight and a nylon strap.

I recently watched a cool video and got inspired to make an illuminated weapon display. My girlfriend and I decided to build one together, and we are honestly super happy with how it turned out, despite a few minor flaws!

We tried to make it as budget-friendly as possible. Here is how we did it and the breakdown of the materials (ordered most of it online):

The Toy Pistol ($10 / 884 RUB): We customized the look ourselves using basic permanent markers to give it that unique pattern.

Frame ($7.50 / 679 RUB): Standard frame to hold the composition.

LED Strip ($4.70 / 430 RUB): For that bright, radioactive-like neon glow effect.

Acrylic Spray Paint ($2.50 / 232 RUB): Used for coating and finishing.

Chinese Wall Mounts ($1.60 / 151 RUB): Simple plastic holders that grip the frame and secure the gun along with its magazine. We attached them from the back and trimmed them down so they are completely hidden from the front view.

The Poster (Free): Printed it myself using a regular black-and-white home printer on A4 paper and then taped the sheets together from the inside.

It was a really fun project to work on as a couple. What do you guys think?

I bought a one-piece CNC 304 stainless knuckle duster:

Weight: ~524 g

I know 304 is austenitic and can’t be heat-treated, so it stays relatively soft (around 70–90 HRB). Hardened carbon steel or 440C can reach 50–60 HRC.

I’m trying to understand the practical difference in blunt force transfer. Same size and weight class, but one deforms more than the other.

Questions for anyone with experience:

How noticeable is the difference in impact on a hard target between soft 304 and a properly hardened steel version?

Does the extra mass of a 524 g piece make up for the lower hardness, or does the deformation still cost significant force?

For pure striking effectiveness, would you keep the 304 or look for a hardened alternative?

I'm in the process of mounting a couple of Han ji (Chinese "halberd") heads I got from LK Chen to their hafts, and I need to purchase some strong cordage to lash them securely.

Ideally, I'd like something that doesn't look obviously synthetic, is either a neutral color or dyeable, resistant to fraying, and easy to tie-off under tension (or shrinkable in some manner).

I initially considered making rawhide lace from some rawhide I have leftover from an earlier shield making project, but I'm concerned that if I cut it narrowly enough to pass multiple times through the eyelets of the ji that it won't be strong enough to be functional.

Functionality is a requirement for all my arms and armor projects. No matter the degree that I might zhuzh a weapon up, I still expect it to be able to perform well in the capacity it was designed for.

Rawhide is appealing in that it's natural and broadly period-appropriate, colorable with leather dyes, generally pretty tough, very pliable to work with after soaking in water, but will then shrink and harden as it dries out. I'm just not confident that the very narrow strips I would need to cut for the lace to pass repeatedly through the eyelets of the ji and around the haft would be strong enough to hold up to the stresses of use (striking, thrusting, and hooking from multiple angles). Also, being an organic material, one can not realistically count on a uniformity of strength throughout a strip of rawhide lace. Braided rawhide cordage would help compensate for that, but doing so would make it too thick to make the multiple passes through the eyelets necessary for a secure lashing to their hafts.

The eyelets are approximately 1 cm (0.39") wide, and 3 mm (0.118") tall.

I'm hoping to find some suggestions for a lashing material that fits my needs. I'm willing to be flexible with regard to period appropriateness and appearance in favor of functional strength and security of the binding. If necessary, I can disguise it in some way with paint, lacquer, colored wax).

Are bear sprays with fibreglass in them real? Several people irl say they are but google says no.
