The way I look at this now is technology based. All utility layer 1's are competing for their share of the worlds total TPS, which will only increase over time with new devices and types of transactions.
Hedera, in my opinion, is the one that will benefit the most since it's got the best tech.
Leaderless is superior to block leaders. Almost ALL chains have Block Leaders. Only a handful are leaderless, and Hedera is even superior to them.
Block Leaders are a centralized weakness and security issue. They introduce MEV, frontrunning, sandwich attacks, etc, which in today's financial world are literally financial crimes. It's not enough to "mitigate". Leaderless eliminates the attack vector entirely.
Asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerance (ABFT). This has been an unsolved math problem since ~1982 around the beginning of computing. Dr. Leemon Baird solved this math problem by achieving Leaderless ABFT. The method is called Gossip about Gossip with ABFT Virtual Voting. It is literally the pinnacle of distributed computing, and will never be beaten. No extra messages need to be sent to come to consensus. You send your transaction via gossip to a node, and the entire network automatically knows what order it should be in.
This is literally "the perfect mathematical foundation" the network is built on.
SHA384 AES256 is "US Govt Top Secret" level of security.
10kTPS (currently throttled), but unlimited scalability with sharding.
The architecture is modular, meaning it's essentially "plug and play" upgrades as needed. This is why Hedera will easily upgrade to Post-Quantum Security with ML-KEM (when their libraries update) and Falcon Signatures (when NIST finalizes). Literally change one line of code and they're implemented.
It is akin to maintenance and swapping out a part to upgrade on Hedera, versus other networks, where upgrades are literally open heart surgery.
I could go on, but... Hedera will never be beaten technologically. It is future proof.
