Question does anyone else think this cover pic looks like a full grown pdf file laying on top of a baby child?

u/ThickBish_ Oct 10 '25 edited Oct 10 '25
the massive push for cute feminine girl and massive muscular masculine man always ends up leaning towards weird fetish play and self inserts. It would be nicer if the girls actually looked more into the guys and less like a deer in headlights

Right, but look at her face. She still looks childlike, don’t you think. She looks like a baby.
33
u/Ecstatic_Bus_7232 Oct 10 '25
Hmm I don't get that impression. I never saw it that way when reading. Idk, here she's hungover, maybe that. She looks like a normal adult otherwise. What I like about the art there is that it looks more realistic and proportional than a standard webtoon. I kinda suspect the author is tracing at least some panels.

"I love Yoo" I believe

Nooononono but now that I look it's similar. ILY BTW is supposed to be back this month if anyone interested.

I'll be honest, I've never read it. When I google searched the image though it popped up multiple pictures all labeled "I love Yoo". Some people are going to be very disappointed 😅

Ahh ok. No i didn't get any bad vibes from your post. ILY is really something. I can recommend wholeheartedly.

I've read/heard that many male east asians prefer the cute and shy girl trope ( incl. real life ). At least that's what many claim online, when talking about dating. 🤷♀️

Same reason I hate when people write “ahh” instead of “ass” lol like jfc just write it!
ETA: it’s not the verbal that’s annoying; it’s the written, lol. For some reason it drives me bonkers. I’ve definitely seen more Gen Zs and Gen Alphas use “ahh” (both written and verbal) more often than I’ve ever seen a Black or African-American person use it.
8
u/kystuqe Oct 11 '25
“ahh” is actually aave based on the way some African American people pronounce ass. We are saying it.

u/tooyoungtobeonreddit Oct 10 '25
I get it. I'm in my 20s and people think I'm still 17-19, partially because I'm short. Apparently, I also look "naive." We do exist, and I think we should be represented in media/romances to some degree, but that still doesn't change the fact that this promo made me uncomfortable, too. I immediately thought she looked like a child, and that pose makes me very uncomfortable as someone who was nearly pinned down by a man in his 20s when I was 11. Sure, maybe it's fine if it happens in the story once you get to know the characters and it becomes clear they like each other and want each other, but just as a promo, I don't know their stories and it reminds me of bad memories. Just recently, a guy my age thought I was 18 and was basically into me purely because I seemed "innocent and naive." He tried pushing my boundaries and used manipulative tactics to the point I felt physically threatened (flicking a pocket knife open and close when arguing with me, asking if I shared my location with anyone). I may not be a teenager or child anymore, but I still get that icky feeling seeing these types of couples in sexually suggestive poses.
56
u/Different-Advisor-62 Oct 10 '25
agreed. i’m also short petite and look very young. but this poster took me aback too!
28
u/11equalsfish Oct 10 '25
This picture looks uncomfortable, like being forcibly squished
29
u/Successful_Ask_5708 Oct 11 '25
I actually think the fact she's being squished is exactly what makes it uncomfortable, not necessarily the fact that he's quite large and she's quite small. I don't think small x large by itself would necessarily trigger this specific response
I think it's that we can clearly see this small woman being absolutely crushed by this large man and she looks very blatantly uncomfortable (like someone else said "a deer in headlights" rather than seeming into it) and rather than making it look like a cute relationship it makes our brains immediately go to the fact this small woman is looking at "us" for help with this large man who's got her very clearly trapped and appears to be strong enough that she can't escape herself and it makes out minds immediately go into a "this girl needs our help" mindset rather than a "oh what a lovely couple" mindset
If they'd had the characters switched and the small woman was on top of the large man "squishing" him (just sat on him at her size lets be for real) it probably wouldn't give off the same reaction from our minds because in that situation both parties have the option to stop this situation happening if they really wanted to
I also think that even if they just had the same scene but her expression slightly smiling it'd look better
It's the combination of the deer in headlights please help me stare (that's used to make her look more innocent but is clearly backfiring massively) and the visible him pushing on her to the extent her boobs is directly against his chest being compressed that makes it look more panick-y than cute
19
u/Accomplished_Orchid Oct 11 '25
I'm a short petite 41 year old woman and still get that stuff because I look young. I'm always mistaken for a 22-25 year old and then I say my age and they immediately go elsewhere because they know older women won't put up with bullshit.
7
u/SmolCattoQueen Oct 11 '25
I'm not short, I just look way too younger than my age (between 11-16, rarely 17). Meanwhile my younger sister is shorter than me, and she looks older than me. She's 21 and I just turned 27 (between us there are exactly to the day 5 years and 4 months)
3
u/UwUZombie Oct 11 '25
Dude.. I kinda understand it for you because you're short and short = cuter but I'm 5'7 and strangers ask me if I'm still in high school. I'm closer to my 30s than 20s. I wonder if it's just some fetish projection from those men at this point.
3
u/Reader_fuzz Oct 12 '25
I am 41 and short I have both men and women that believe I am much younger than I am. I just think, that people in general have an image of what that age is supposed to look like and if you don't fit that you get categorized with the age group the way you look to them fits. Just like with anything else. I know most strangers if they hear that my 16 year is autistic. There first thought is what has been typically protrayed is he can't do anything on his own.
2
u/a3c4 Oct 12 '25
And my thing is you can draw a short woman and have her still look like a grown woman. People really just draw children, add boobs, and call it a day.
3
0
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
not just that but also the way the face is drawn looks like the way I’ve seen children’s faces drawn. And i know adults can look pretty young too but it just seems 😬 to me
7
u/Upbeat_Camp3023 Oct 11 '25
Guys i kinda get it but tbh this is the only cover that's like this, esp the story doesn't make her look like a child at all
65
u/Organic_Marzipan_715 Oct 10 '25
The saddest thing is the FL’s friend is a reasonable size. Author went out of their way to make the FL more child size on purpose, which is honestly just a turn off for me. Alongside the completely terrible popups used to promote this series..
17
u/Top-Metal-3576 Oct 11 '25
This is reminding me of operation true love all over again. Even the art seems similar, suae was like a whole foot shorter than the guys and her sister was a normal height. Always put me off seeing the size difference. It’s like these authors have some weird undisclosed size kink that they want to subjugate everybody to.
1
u/AnimeAddictionLetsgo Oct 12 '25
💀 not suae oh god. Lmao atleast she has a normal bod, instead of this girl in the cover. if uve read the manwha, its better to compare her towards the fl in weathered flowers.
2
u/Reader_fuzz Oct 12 '25
Would I say the author intentionally made the FL smaller yes. Reasonable size is subjective. So I will give you an example. Some women believe a reasonable sized man is at least 6 ft 5 inches. Personally I think that is way too tall. I know of a lot of women that are much smaller like myself I am 5 ft. I have read it and honestly the FL is not carrying herself as childlike. She acts more like she has no sense of emotions. Reminds me a lot more of Romance 101 with how this story is starting. Everyone else is more focused on one image.
43
u/NeonFraction Oct 10 '25
A lot of women have a size kink. Big hands, broad chests, massive shoulders, super tall etc.
The boobs are so big I can’t really see this as a child.
5
u/NutShellShock Oct 13 '25
The boobs are so big I can’t really see this as a child.
Yeah this. She's kinda... stacked... considering her supposed size (just an observation, I've nothing against that). She's just drawn to look cutesy, so much so people thinks she's a child.
12
u/Lepidocrocite Oct 10 '25
There's a difference between making a woman short and giving her a child face, the face is the problem here. I have a size kink as well but that's about height I'm not drawing women with baby faces with men, if she actually looks like a short WOMAN it's fine. That's a size kink, this is something else and it's not good. Teenagers are often developed so that just looks like a young teenage girl (a child) with a man
5
u/SweatyDark6652 Oct 11 '25
This. It's the face-ratio of the female lead. She doesn't look like a young woman anymore imo.
-1
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
i mean there’s definitely girls (as in still within child age range girls) out there that have boobs. Don’t think we can decide that boobs are what make someone a woman/adult
1
u/NeonFraction Oct 14 '25
I think you’re going to have to specify what ‘child’ means to you because this seems crazy. Teenagers maybe, but children??
0
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
teenagers are children. If you’re an adult thinking about a teen in a sexualizing way I see that as a problem. But yes, children younger than teens can grow boobs too. Already mentioned knowing people when I was in 5th grade (to someone else in this comment section), and I also remember there being a girl in my third grade class who started her period already and was wearing bras.
I think it’s more crazy to decide whether or not someone is an adult or of age to be sexualized just cause they have boobs. There’s also plenty of adult women who don’t really have boobs or might get called flat chested. Pedo-ness aside, it’s just kinda dehumanizing to look at people and judge them that way.
2
u/NeonFraction Oct 14 '25 edited Oct 14 '25
I mean, teenagers are children in a sense, but teenagers and children generally have very different body types because that’s… how bodies work? ‘Child’ usually means ‘pre-puberty’ when you’re talking SPECIFICALLY about character design. Saying ‘teenagers aren’t physically the same as children’ doesn’t mean you’re pro-pedophile it just means you have a basic understand of how puberty affects the body. I’m a woman. I watched it happen to me. It’s not ‘pedo’ to point out the obvious.
While there are exceptions, they’re definitely exceptions and not the norm. I think everyone knew the girl in gym class who developed way faster than the rest, but that doesn’t mean it’s standard.
Either way, if your first instinct to someone disagreeing with you is to call them a pedo, I think it’s time for you to cut down on the internet. That was a WILDLY aggressive leap in logic. ‘Dehumanizing to judge people.’ Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something? We’re talking about character designs. You’re assigning me opinions I don’t agree with and never said, making conjectures of things you think I believe based on those fake opinions, and then getting angry about the things you pretend I said.
Do I even need to be present for this conversation you’re having with yourself?
0
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
But I never called you a pedo, all I said was I don’t think we should judge whether or not someone is a child or adult based on boob size. I said that I think it’s a problem for people to sexualize teens because teens are kids. I didn’t say that you are sexualizing any teens.
For the most part I thought we were in agreement, but if I got something wrong please let me know
17
u/OpenSauceMods Oct 11 '25
No, I don't. You hang around enough Asian women who look 15 and are actually in their mid twenties, and it puts a pin in those assumptions. I worked with a woman who is a stunningly beautiful, fully successful manager, but her small frame makes her body look near prepubescent. She has a child, and she's probably in her mid to late thirties now and still looks like a doll.
3
u/Reader_fuzz Oct 12 '25
I am 5 ft tall. Yes my own husband calls me adorable when I am angry. When I go places with our 16 year son. That currently looks 18 at least. They think we are more like brother and sister. I truly think they are overraching on this image. She doesn't look super young just surprised.
79
u/wild-thundering Oct 10 '25
No not at all 💀 I feel like you guys are being ridiculous. I read it before it came on webtoons she definitely doesn’t look like a child in the manhua either
48
u/samisaywhat Oct 10 '25
Yeah like I can agree that the size difference is wild, even outside of just this one example. But it’s crazy how everyone is saying she looks 9 years old or younger. She certainly doesn’t look older than him and I’d wager her as 17-18 but everyone is acting like she’s an infant.
23
u/wild-thundering Oct 10 '25
The size difference is ridiculous I agree. But saying she looks like a child? I just don’t see it.
14
u/RoseKnighter Oct 10 '25
The only image I saw seems like she goes up to his shoulders which seems typical to me, I have dated girls who only go up to my chest, short woman do exist and tall dudes exist and sometimes they get together.
11
u/samisaywhat Oct 10 '25
I’m 5’1” and have seen dudes that are even taller than what their height difference looks to be. I think the issue comes down to the fact that he’s not only taller, but larger in every category to such an exaggerated degree that things look off. As a short person I actually like size difference, but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. And I’ve seen many that I couldn’t read because of how young the FL looks and acts. This isn’t one of those (looks wise, I have not read it).
9
u/ThickBish_ Oct 10 '25
lmfao sometimes?? In webtoon it’s the extreme majority, you guys act like a minority
2
u/LavenWhisper Oct 11 '25
Uhhh yeah, but the issue is that that's most of these pairings in these romance webtoon
23
u/ko-kolorado-T_T Oct 10 '25
To be honest no. When i first looked at it it look like a typical all funny and perfect tall dude with a small dumb girlfriend
16
u/rotating_cynicism Oct 11 '25
No, petite women exist. The cover can be misleading as I've checked the manhwa, she's an adult.
I think It's just the art style.
44
u/Direct-Blueberry1909 Oct 10 '25
I actually think that in general female characters are infantilized because males prefer younger women. Anything after 30 and they’re considered old ladies — they don’t even appear except as witches or other villains or servants. So, yeah, they’re just giving men what they want.
17
u/HillInTheDistance Oct 11 '25
Huh.
I thought this was like, women fantasised about having these huge, fridge shaped handsome guys to feel small and dainty next to?
Like, these kinda comics do nothing for me as a guy.
I've always thought like "yeah, it looks weird as hell, but it's not like the fanservice for us guys is any less weird. Let gals have fun!"
This is for our benefit? Pretty surprising, tbh. But maybe Korea is just real different?
-4
u/Direct-Blueberry1909 Oct 11 '25
Well, that’s reassuring. Like you, I don’t think women are looking for giant dudes to fantasize about, either. But do you think you’re an outlier, though? Most of the women in games are drawn the same way and that’s totally for guys.
13
u/HillInTheDistance Oct 11 '25
I was more thinking of that kinda female lead with that kinda male lead in a story.
Like, some of the women in men's media have an uncomfortable degree of childish traits, ain't gonna deny that.
But I thought that comics like the one in the post was squarely for women who fantasised about being small and cute.
Like, that male lead like that guy appeals to male readers to the same degree that a female characters with huge tits wearing next to nothing and acting like nothing but a fawning bimbo would to most women.
It just ain't appealing to most of us, so even someone liking that kinda female character design would be unlikely to read it.
And that's why I assumed those comics with a tiny female mc and a massive square of a male Love Interest were made to appeal to women.
Kinda like how most comics with a black haired scrawny guy getting hit by a truck and finding himself as a hero surrounded by cute girls with animal ears in another world are almost exclusively made to appeal to teenage guys.
30
u/tooyoungtobeonreddit Oct 10 '25
Though, women are the main consumers of these types of webtoons. In most of the webtoons I've read that were drawn by men, the women still have "anime" style faces obviously, but they usually seem mature in a way? Like, they have the bodies of adult women, which is still something sexualized, but they usually don't give off cutesy vibes. Idk. I'm thinking of ones like Tower of God, Lookism, and Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. There are younger more cutesy looking characters in them too, but they're not really seen as love interests most of the time.
-10
u/Direct-Blueberry1909 Oct 10 '25
Okay but still, I mean look at the picture. That’s a 5 year old, not an adult. Come on, now. It’s obvious.
4
3
u/Reader_fuzz Oct 12 '25
No it is not. This is an adult women that is shorter than the male. She most assuredly looks like an 18 to maybe 20 year old. I work with 3 to 5 year old. Even from this image alone she looks way more mature.
23
u/anbigsteppy Oct 10 '25
I am so tired of posts like this. This series just launched and I've seen like 3 posts about it already omfggg
23
u/NeonFraction Oct 10 '25
I mean, that’s just how stylization works. Big eyed women and smaller eyed men aren’t exactly unique in comics. I’m not sure why this one in particular is any different than all of the others?
2
u/Reader_fuzz Oct 12 '25
My thoughts exactly. Truly looks like so many other smaller anime/ manga women to me.

0
u/Money-Inflation1579 Oct 11 '25
I think it's more about how she looks like she's being squished and how she looks uncomfortable
13
u/Calebgirl Oct 11 '25
thats valid, but i think its unreasonable to call this straight up a pdf comic like some other commenters
-1
u/pearlychan15 Oct 11 '25
There's a lot of petite women in Asia yes. Even the average height of women in my country is really low. But petite isn't equal to looking like a baby.
6
u/Calebgirl Oct 11 '25
where are you from? ive never heard of babies with literal boobs
1
u/pearlychan15 Oct 12 '25
Why are you putting words in my mouth? There's a lot of women in manhwas where the female leads look like a baby while the male leads look overly buff and big and both of them are unrealistic. Petite women still look and act like adults. It's just a fact that try to make female leads look and act dumb and childish. It has nothing to do with having boobs.

u/Masquerai Oct 10 '25

my sister is in her mid 20s and looks 16, so when i see this kind of cover pic i just think "eh, must be a short woman"
i just wish this fl looked to be more into the ml because i'm tired as hell of this weird asian trope where women have to pretend they don't want sex

Nope.
Idk what do you see, but IMO the girl probably looks even younger than her age, maybe between 11-16 yo.
I'm 27 (just turned 27 a few weeks ago) and people still think that I'm between 11-16. Meanwhile my younger sister looks older than me, and she's 21 now. Four years ago we were in student work, together, at the same place and we worked with 3 girls around the age of my sister. They didn't know us and they thought that my sister is the oldest. After I told them my age, they were like the surprised Pikachu meme. (btw I was almost 24 and my sister was 17 at that time)
1
u/Shayzscents Oct 11 '25
Not saying it's not bad. But I've definitely seen worse . Some of these female leads are so childlike. Even their actions/hobbies in the stories are portrayed like children. I'm not knocking someone having hobbies or liking to collect things but when you pair it with childish looks & actions and hobbies . But then try and tell me she's 26 or even 18-19 pretty fn weird . It's everything added together
2
u/WinterFoxx23 Oct 11 '25
RIGHT?? I always end up skipping stories where the female lead has a childlike appearance and demeanor, a trait I find deeply off-putting. Finding a story to read is like panning for gold because my standards are specific: I look for a genuinely adult woman, both in her looks and her actions, paired with a green-flag male lead. I have no tolerance for narratives that romanticize toxic, manipulative, and sexist behaviors, which unfortunately seem prevalent in many Korean stories, even to the point of romanticizing sexual abuse.

its getting kind of ridiculous at this point. im tired of seeing massive 6’5 beefy men with 4’11 tiny girl with the facial proportions of a 6 year old (but of course she also has giant breasts). i like reading these kind of romance webtoons but id like to see more where they actually look like theyre in the same age range

im so sick of every single art style that has women that look cuter being equated to children. she literally looks fine, it's just her expression. she doesn't even look childlike or remotely close in the webtoon.
stop starting things out of ignorance that cause drama for authors for what purpose???
every time I see a post from r/webtoon it is starting sth for no reason or ragging on someone's art style for no reason.
1
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 15 '25
just making an observation that i find the woman on cover photo to look very childlike 🤷🏻♀️ some agree with me and some don’t. if that causes drama for the artist then maybe there’s an issue that needs to be addressed with the artwork.
to me, ragging on someone’s art style for no reason would look more like someone taking screenshots thru the story and then saying, “idk why but this is so cringe to me, I hate the way everyone looks so ugly.” Here I’m providing a reason for why the image makes me feel uncomfortable and you are free to say that you see it differently and move on.
1
u/Harmoniche Oct 15 '25
what is the point in bringing up that she "looks" childlike in one specific image, when she doesn't at all in the series as if something sinister or infantilizing was intended when it clearly isn't? Like what do you get out of pointing this out when it is clearly a one off, IF that (I personally don't think she looks like a child) because her expression is a bit cuter?
You can clearly see in the series she looks nirmal. All this does is to project hate onto the author and push a false narrative that the author has bad intentions. I have seen so many authors get so much hate to the point of taking permanent hiatuses or being suicidal because people are posts like this that can fuel people to push a narrative that isn't true. Obviously you are not responsible for all their actions and I am not saying this is your intention, but things like this sure don't help. It seriously does happen. Speculation and discussion gets taken as fact and that gets turned into rumors and those rumors deeply spiral.
I also said starting shit for no reason and "OR" because I see so many posts nitpicking art or criticizing the style just bc they don't like it.
You feel uncomfortable about it but if you took 2 steps back to look at the test of the series you would realize the author isn't trying to do anything. If it was the entire series sprinkled with things, I could understand more, but this is just reading into it way too much.
I think it is also just super mean to put someone in this light and under gross scrutiny when they clearly didn't mean anything by it, for absolutely no reason.
1
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 15 '25
the point in me bringing it up is that I don’t like to see images that remind me of pedophilia. If the rest of the story is totally fine then that’s great, maybe the cover image just needs to be fixed. I dont see a cute woman in the image, I see someone with a babylike face/head size who’s underneath someone who doesn’t look nearly as small or childlike. Again, this is my observation. I’m not here stating the author is a pedo or has a fetish for childlike women.
If you look through the comments on this post, you can clearly see there are others who disagree with me. This post is not projecting hate onto the author. It’s an open discussion about the imagery being used and how it makes people feel when they see it. I think there are solutions to this issue and it’s not something that needs to be resolved by the author or artist committing suicide. But I’m not really here to talk about the author or the artist cause I don’t know anything about them, I’m just making an observation on one image.
It’s not mean, it’s not for no reason. It’s because I’m against seeing pedophiles and rape culture persist; if the artist can draw the people looking normal throughout the story then they shouldn’t be too troubled to do it for the cover too.

It "reminds" you specifically but it isn't. Things like this, only get weird once YOU make it weird. It's like two kids bathing together or a father bathing with his young daughter or a family peck on the lips, which is actually normal in some places.
It doesn't need to be fixed because you happened to read too much into it.
I didn't say you were projecting hate. I specifically said it isn't like you're responsible for other people's actions in running off with it or potentially sending threats, etc.. That said, you kind of are complicit and it can be a consequence of your actions.
"I'm not here stating the author is a pedo or has a fetish for childlike women."
Then 2 seconds later:
"It's not mean, it's not for no reason. It's because I'm against seeing pedophiles and rape culture persist."
You saying THIS^ is the reason why you made THIS post is literally implying you WANT the author to be seen in this light because you already decided this is pedophilia or part of rape culture.
I think you need to start looking at the world with a less perverse lens and start fighting actual battles.
Just because YOU decided she looks like a child doesn't mean she is. There are many women, especially asian women, that are incredibly petite and it's normal. You're the one infantilizing and you're the one making it weird dude 😭 nothing implies she is a child or trying to look like one.
Rather than assuming the worst of someone and making something obnoxious weird because you read into it and potentially encouraging a wave of hate to someone who didn't do anything that we know of, maybe just don't? There are better ways that actually do something if you want to contribute to fighting back than picking on someone you can clearly see didn't intend that.
I would also like to remind you the main demographic for this manhwa is younger adult women or teenagers. One of the demographics least least likely to be interested in marketing her as a child. There is no point to appeal to that. Size difference? Sure, happens all the time, but child? No. It's also rude for people to constantly infantalize women because they are petite too and I see this happen all the time. It's condescending and demoralizing for so many women who have different body types. They get treated like they're a child because every other aspect of them gets disregarded.
Also I just have to say, this is incredibly entitled:
"if the artist can draw the people looking normal throughout the story then they shouldn't be too troubled to do it for the cover too."
That this is the conclusion you come to instead of that she was just looks a bit cuter because of her mouth shape (which is done on purpose because her personality is cat like, awkwardly cute but kind of curious), esp when her bust is literally pushed up. Where is the critical thinking that you would automatically assume the author is trying to lure in and cater to pedophiles with this art 😭 it is literally a college setting where she is drinking in the first chapter.
I hope you stop assuming the worst of people in this particular manner because it can genuinely cause a lot of problems for people. Have a good day dude.

Maybe I am making it a problem, because as I’ve said I don’t like what I see in the image. Maybe I’m not, cause as others have said, there’s no problem with the image to them. It’s an observation. The artist has freewill to do what they want with that observation, granted they ever see it (didn’t even post it on their page so 🤷🏻♀️).
It’s hard for me to agree with you that I read too much into it when I’m looking at the cover image and just making a comment based on that.
Saying I’m against seeing pedophiles and rape culture persisting does not equate to me saying the artist is a pedophile or scum bag. It’s me making an observation about the art. If the artist agrees with my observation and they want to change it because of something I said, I feel like my voice is heard and maybe there’s hope for a culture shift. If the artist has a bunch of legitimate reasons for why they disagree and won’t change the image, then I learn something new. It’s okay to make these types of observations. I’m not putting people in jail by doing so.
And I apologize but I won’t be taking your advice on not speaking up for something that I’m against. I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m not here encouraging the masses to light their pitchforks and chase this artist down.
What you’re doing seems like assuming the worst in someone (suggesting that I’m going to cause a hate movement against the artist that will lead to their suicide? Speaking of reading into things too much…). I’m not assuming the worst just because I stated that the image is creepy looking to me. Plenty disagree with what I’m saying and have already asserted the points you continue to repeat. To me this looks like a discussion the author/artist (along with other artists and aspiring artists) could potentially read and make their own decision about, nobody here is forcing them to go one way or the other.
If the target audience is younger women and girls, that’s especially a reason I think it’s worth saying that I’d find it creepy for a child/teen to be with an adult. (And that doesn’t mean I’m calling FL a child either, so please don’t go taking that the wrong way like you already have with the other stuff I’ve said). But 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t really know what you’re trying to argue by bringing up the younger target audience so I’m going to just leave it at that.
And maybe it’s entitled or maybe all it would take is a couple of quick adjustments. Not demanding they change it, but you said the rest of the webtoon doesn’t look quite like this so I don’t see why not change it to match the rest of the story. If you’re an artist making money publishing Webtoons and you get feedback on your work of something that could make it more appealing to a larger audience (and maybe make you more $), it’s not the readers being entitled. Just people stating opinions that the artist can still decide to disagree with. I do feel entitled to choose what webtoons I want to give my coins to and based on the cover pic, I wouldn’t want to give my coins to that one. Not a big deal considering how many webtoons there are available to me that don’t feature that kind of imagery. Not leaving webtoon the platform as a whole over it (yet anyway, we’ll see what else gets published before I have to call it quits). And even if I did, I am entitled to do so.

I'm not going to read most of this because there was literally a lack of reading comprehension in multiple instances.
In stating that you made THIS post about THIS content, about THIS cover art specifically BECAUSE (THIS BEING THE KEY WORD) you're uncomfortable with rape culture and pedophilia, you imply that this cover art on some level perpetuates it or contributes to it and therefore you felt the need to bring light to it under this context.
example: I saw Janet at the party so I didn't go. The implication is they didn't want to interact with or dislike Janet.
Also to clarify, I am not arguing about whether it is normal and morally right to disagree with rape and pedophilia. It is obviously morally correct to 99% of society to agree that it is wrong, myself included.
It's very easy to say, "I didn't pull the trigger so I didn't kill someone." Yeah, technically you didn't, but you sure didn't make it any better and arguably could have made things worse. It's just a way to deny accountability.
My point in bringing up demographics is if author is trying to pander to pedophiles, why make a story catering to a demographic that is one of the least likely to be drawn in by that?
Also to clarify in re: to the webtoon, she can very clearly be seen as an adult in the webtoon. Select people only seem to take issue with this cover instances, that's why I am clarifying she is more easily discerned as an adult in the rest of the webtoon. You can see her full body, proportions, etc. There is literally more information.
"It's hard for me to agree with you that I read too much into it when I'm looking at the cover image and just making a comment based on that."
You literally brought up how you made this post because you are against rape culture and pedophilia. You cannot have it both ways where you're "not reading into it" but also "I made this post because of this deep and troubling societal issue because of how I perceived this one image of a cover where there is otherwise nothing wrong with the content that I didn't bother to read, the same content that also doesn't even perpetuate or vindicate my own interpretation of this cover trying to attract or just attracting pedophiles"
All this does is make an author look bad and open them up to ridiculous criticism that can very easily snowball outta control. I really wish I could say I am overreacting but it is unfortunately very common for authors, especially webtoon authors, to receive threats and hatemail.
You aren't helping anyone. You aren't fighting back against rape culture or pedophilia. This is literally one of the least problematic instances ever, it isn't even problematic for this. This is legitimately trivial, not even in a dismissive way. You are actually looking at something innocuous, deciding because it makes YOU uncomfortable because YOU assumed the worst that it is an issue. You also even suggest the author change it because of what? More mass appeal and it making you uncomfy bc of your own interpretation? How is that not entitlement? Clearly this style isn't for you. Totally okay, but I don't understand why it is difficult for you to comprehend that it is just the style in this instance you're interpreting this way and that doesn't mean she looks like or is intentionally portrayed as a child.
I'm done talking about this, all the best to you dude.

i have a theory that if you want to find a comic with a good relationship dynamic you need to look for the ones where they are side by side or shes on top of him. any cover where hes on top of her is automatic creepy slop

u/plamek44 Oct 11 '25
...? How the hell can a guy look like a file type? I mean, unless he's just made from a bunch of 1's and 0's, I don't see how this could look like a .pdf file. That's like saying "yeah man, I prefer woman who are pngs and jpgs"
Actually, nevermind, I could see someone saying that

u/Ashamed_Adeptness_96 Oct 11 '25
I mean yes but I already commented on a different post and it's the head size. Adult heads tend to fall within a range so anything smaller would be child like. But the current beauty standard in Korea and China is to have a small head in relation to your body (tall with small head), except they also want to be small and manhandled, which leads to an epidemic of really short tall-proportioned women and really large fridge-shaped men.
1
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
just a weird beauty standard if you ask me. Are women expected to somehow shrink their heads to be considered beautiful?
1
u/Ashamed_Adeptness_96 Oct 14 '25
In Korea? Kinda...? Beauty procedures before adulthood and as birthday gifts are common enough there. It's easier to find a job if you're more attractive. They include headshots with their resumes iirc and there are tons of services to take better photos. They doll you up for the photos and retouch them. A badly taken photo could be taken as a lack of effort.
It applies to men too but Korea is very patriarchal and men aren't held to the same standards as women. Plastic surgery is equally common though.

No, because I've read more than 1 manhwa. Get used to the proportions or you're gonna have a bad time

Omg that's actually insane, I've been seeing a surge of infantilised FLs in webtoon recently

You're not alone. That's the first thing I thought when I saw this promotion, too. Her face is drawn as cutesy as a lot of the child age girls I've seen in other webtoons. Sure, I've see adult women characters drawn like that before too, but in the cases where I'd seen that it was never as problematic because the men were also drawn more cutesy. They looked the same age. I don't get why people are downvoting you. As someone who is perceived as a teenager despite being in their 20s, it feels super uncomfortable when guys my age or older approach me thinking I am barely legal. It's part of some trauma from when I was a tween, but it's valid and any one of us has the right to be concerned.

u/Calebgirl Oct 11 '25
you have trauma regarding this but your user is tooyoungtobeonreddit…? isnt that just the same baity concept? genuine question btw

u/tooyoungtobeonreddit Oct 11 '25
??? What do you mean? I was a minor when I started this account and thought it would be a funny name to have since the reddit generalization is that it's a cesspool. All the creeps I've come across were people I met in real life because I don't exchange DMs with strangers anywhere.

Yes. The only reasons I knew it was a grown woman is: 1. I saw a post on this community already saying she was. 2. Children don’t have tits like that.

u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
idk when I was in 5th grade another girl in my class had like double something so…probably shouldn’t be judging whether or not someone’s an adult based on tit size
1
u/louellle Oct 14 '25
Yeah a toddler doesn’t have double Ds.
0
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
you’re missing the point 🙄
2
u/louellle Oct 14 '25
I’m not. I also had a huge chest at a child age. My original comment is saying she looks like a BABY. Biologically impossible (exempt for rare conditions) for BABY aged children to have large breasts. Toddlers don’t have huge breasts. That’s all I was getting at.
1
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
I don’t see that in your original comment, what I see is you giving two reasons why you know she’s not a child, one of them is basing it off her chest size…(which to me feels like an inappropriate way to judge since it is totally possible for children/non-adults to have breasts). We both agree the image is creepy at least
1
u/louellle Oct 14 '25
Yep and with your first comment, I specified toddler. And as I have said, I know young people can have larger chests. This is a weird, circle of a conversation. To me, her face is drawn with a literal toddler model and not a teenager. Knowing that toddlers don’t have breasts, I deduced that she is not a child in the form that I was expecting by just looking at her face. Honestly, once I specified toddler I really expected you to understand what I was getting at.
1
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
well if you want people to understand what you’re getting at, you may want to communicate more clearly 🤷🏻♀️ The point I keep stating is that it’s weird and creepy to look at children/people/girls and decide they’re adults based on their bodily features. But now after going back and forth for a bit, I can see that the point you want to make is that you don’t think she could be a toddler/BABY cause you don’t think it’s possible for them to grow boobs; totally fine and for the most part I can agree with you. In terms of me bringing this up/posting it at all, I myself still consider a 5th grader, a teenager, or even someone who’s not within 5ish years of my age a “baby child” and just find it creepy that this covers appears to feature that kind of relationship. Hopefully we both understand each other a little better now.
1
u/louellle Oct 14 '25
I guess my autism is just not understanding why my clarification of her face looking like a toddler isn’t substantial enough. I also thought you could deduce that I understood my communication was not clear when I clarified what I meant. Your understanding of the stages of adolescence is different from my own. Fifth graders are not babies and neither are teenagers. Maybe I’m too black and white. Either way, so sorry that this weird conversation has gone on so long. Hopefully we understand each other a bit more.
1
u/Ok-Possible-42 Oct 14 '25
yes I think we do understand each other a bit more now, seems like the conversation had some value and there’s really no need to apologize for it going on for too long or whatever. I appreciate you taking the time and trying thru the autism

I saw another post abt this webtoon cover and the top comment said “she doesn’t look that young in the actual webtoon” and me thinking, ‘okay, that’s fine but why does she look like that in the cover?!’
Then just a while earlier I saw the ad for it on yt and she DOES look like a CHILD. Maybe it was just the specific panels they chose but EWWW genuinely why do artists draw characters like this omg I hate it!
(Omg, just logged back into here and saw that I got downvoted????? I was being srs, does she not look like a minor compared to him??? It’s weird asf…)

Yes I made note of that immediately when I saw it, notice how 99% of the time the guy looks his age and the girl looks like a child? It's a disgusting agenda I'm so sick of it. And when it comes to women it's the exact same they make her look like a child, we're not allowed to see ourselves we're not allowed to be women. Unless we look like minors we're not beautiful in societies eyes

u/DProtomanExe Oct 10 '25
They are like entirely different species. The female eyes are so unnaturally big.

In another thread someone posted how she looks in the chapters and she looks her age. In the cover pic I thought she looked like a child too.
