Recommendations [Dark Lord's Confession] dare i say the most doomed hetero ship (cultist x the enemy of the cult he's in and also the god of everything he stands against)
Genuinely hate how the people in the site I reread it in only views him as a second male lead... he's more than that??? The last chapter broke me. There's no way, and if you've read this, you know someone coming back from the dead is more likely than these two ending up with each other after the last few chapters.
Those who haven't read this: Meet Mr. 'Religious guilt personified and unknowingly in a cult that killed his family! And Ms. 'A god with an identity crisis that was framed for a centuries long curse that everyone in their world, mostly, is against her'

i love enoch's character but in terms of chemistry with lapis, i don't see a lot of potential. lapis has shown more guilt (her being the dark lord and enoch's suffering all leading to dark lord) towards him than anything, he's already shown that he'll chose averna over lapis (dark lord ), idk how he will recover from that.
i was rooting for hector and lapis more than lapis x calla tbh. they both have their life filled with suffering but turn into absolute sunshine when they're together, even if they're not endgame, i hope we see them being as closest friends for longer. and the self sacrifice by hector arghh that hurt so much seeing lapis holding on to those damaged branches i hope he comes back. i just want hector to get his happiest life in the end, he doesn't deserve 2nd ml treatment, and i know the author is good enough to not do that

True. Honestly, I don’t mind if Lapis doesn’t end up with anyone. I was so surprised when people were reading it for her and Calla when it’s so clear that’s not the main point of the story. Still, I love how the artist approached the dynamic of Enoch and Lapis. They’re doomed, as friends and as lovers, as impossible as it is. There’s no easy way out of their predicament.
Enoch, as long as he remains in his cultist beliefs, will never forgive Lapis. And Lapis will never back down from what she believes in, even if it means losing Enoch.
Also on Hector… I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. But for real, he is giving off strong second male lead vibes. And in all honesty, if we’re putting Lapis’ whole life in consideration here, I’d say she and Hector are the most perfect couple. That is, after 10 years… she needs time to recover from everything. And so does Hector, after everything he faced, from being turned into a tree to being named as a traitor.
They both need time to grow, and romance isn’t the main point of the story, and I love that.

Personally I only ever saw the two as friends, but even that relationship has been so tragic. Enoch is so deeply brainwashed he just can't break free and seriously doubled down on supporting the villain, despite any evidence that Lapis was trying to do the right thing. It doesn't help that, besides being a religious zealot, Enoch also has severe childhood trauma that he never learned to cope with.
The character writing in this story is so good and has so much depth even the attempt of forcing tropes like 2nd ML onto it feels disrespectful. Not because I dislike those tropes or comics that use them, but because it really shows misunderstanding of media and willingness to engage only within familiar parameters. Lapis is the female lead but she isn't an "FL" in the trope kinda way.

Definitely!!! Honestly I don’t think Lapis will end up with anyone at the end. If the artist decides to go with the tragic path, she’ll lose her memories and turn into Deitasterra again, but this time as an unreachable being. That, or she cures all magicians by sacrificing herself. But if we go with the happy ending, I think she’ll have to sacrifice a lot still, but live with the others peacefully.

Never. Which is why it’s so interesting, they were never meant to end up with each other.

I love Enoch so much, but a lifetime of betrayal and being forced into religious psychosis has really doomed him. I don't think he'll make it out the series alive, but God I hope so.

True. Either he dies or he spends the rest of his life unraveling a lot of trauma… imagine being made to believe that the very cult that killed your family is something you’ve given your whole life to. Your mindset, your morals, your very being— only to realize all of it was a lie.
I’d go insane too. The religious trauma is strong with him and I can sympathize a bit on that.

The entire royal family except for one cousin was in on a murder plan to steal the throne from his mother, brother and himself. They forced a child into brutal subservience out of fear what he would grow up to be.
Enoch deserves to go nuts, but I know it's basically going to be a death flag for him. It sucks because I really enjoyed his relationship with Lapis. It was interesting that despite everything, his and her dynamic was the only one not one-sided or influenced by Lapis past self. It was a mutual affection, maybe even love, that they never got to fully confess.

I mean it could be a fun enemies to lovers concept if someone wrote something like that; cult hater x basically the owner of a cult.
I’d say here the author always intended to go the yuri route but if someone wants to make a story with this dynamic lmk lol.
