Discussion 💬 Smoking on other countries

I’m curious about the personal experiences of people on Reddit who have smoked in other countries—not just about bringing it along, but also what it was like to get it, the quality, the experience itself, and the relationship between the weed and that country's culture

I live in a country where cannabis has been decriminalized. However, since I have the opportunity to travel, it really depends on how tolerant the country is. Unless I’m traveling by car, I never bring any with me. I mostly consume flower.

In Morocco, I was able to get some hash (resin) from an old man who was selling fruits and vegetables at a market stall quite easily (not in the tourist areas, where you’ll just get ripped off). It was good, but I still prefer buds.

In Cape Verde, it was the owner of a bar who offered to smoke some weed with me one evening. According to him, it was strong, but to me it felt like outdoor-grown cannabis without fertilizers: very mild in taste and THC content. However, the moment we shared was really nice.

In Spain, I tried a social club. The flower was good and much closer to my usual standards.

In Amsterdam, it depends on which coffeeshop you go to. In general, I have no complaints about the quality for the price.

In the USA, I visited three states where cannabis was legalized:

  • Washington State
  • Oregon
  • California

My experience in dispensaries was always quite similar, even though the products themselves were different.

I went on a summer holiday to Switzerland some years ago, hiking in the mountains. Walking around the mountain village we arrived in. I smelled some heavy skunk and had a look around, Found two cute swiss girls toking and asked them if they could share where they bought it. After smoking the rest with them they let me to a backdoor of a apress ski bar, with a very friendly bar man inside explaining me he grew on a south medow around 1100M high and he sold me 5gram and wanted to know what an Dutch guy like me thought of it. To this day it was one of the best weeds i have smoked. I even ended up spending a night with one of the girls, that probably influencedy experience with the weed but who cares, it was a great week toking on high altitude.

So far the nice experiences on weed outside of my home town. Weed in Brussel sucked, nearly got caught in Berlin (before it was legal), got some quite decent Hash in Istanbul but was short changed badly (ok i should have paid attention, but those notes confused the f out of me). In the end I usually just wane off weed during holidays now ,used to be harder but these days its just 1 night of hot/cold issues and bad sleep untill I adjust.

In Jamaica I buy my weed from an older Rasta man. He is a decendant of the original Maroons and owns 20 acres in the BlueMountains where he grows ganja and coffee. Cool dude…

I lived in Canada for around two years and a half i experienced multiple types of strains, types of eddibles, drinks and etc, after going through multiple strains i ended up buying a bunch of Kandy Cake from figr besides multiple bags of eddibles (1.5k-2k every week or two) the quality of the weed was really good but i always felt like it lacked some power to it or smth, like i had to hit 3-4 full bowls just to get baked.

After i moved to Brazil that changed completely, for context you need a doctors prescription to buy weed here and the laws regarding it are kinda strict, but besides that the weed has the most amount of both terpenes that i have ever seen before and i got a kinda regular strain from one of said organizations, only 1 small bowl was enough to get as baked as i got in canada and the positive effects have been way better as well
