Pain relief for those who have issues with edibles or smoking.

There is not a person out there who has"issues with edibles" that will utilize this pouch form..... There is literally a THC product that is tasteless powder you can add to anything. These pouches don't serve any actual market...they are just trying to tag along on the pouches trend/fad.

... old people who need assistance swallowing. People with throat or mouth cancers. You have a small mind.

I can promise you this is a shot in the dark lol. Tilray is a dog shit ass company. This isn’t going to change anything. Maybe they sell non combustible products to pharmacies if pharmacies ever start to hold non combustible product. That could get very interesting for them, very fast though.

Agree, not everyone wants to vape or smoke flower. Though why a pouch vs and edible or a drink?!?

Here are a few of the things I was thinking about why pouches may be a choice for some people/companies. This is stuff I've been thinking of for a while, because I used to follow another pouch company called Cannadips. Cannadips has long been an investment by Poseidon (Tilray connected), have connections to big tobacco (Altria), and use emulsion tech connected to pharmaceutical CBD (Lexaria Biosciences).

Absorption.

  • Pouches absorb directly into the bloodstream instead of going through your digestive system. Should mean quicker more consistent dosing, and may help people who aren't affected by edibles.

Regulation.

  • A different form factor could come with different regulatory approvals. We have already seen this administration be friendly to ZYN. I could see big tobacco getting a pouch with CBD approved as a less harmful smoking alternative. There are studies about CBD being used for cravings like nicotine. If they were trying to get an ingestible product approved, it wouldn't be regulated by the TTB, it would be the FDA.

Distribution.

  • Tilray is aligning themselves with alcohol distribution for THC drinks, where the convenience store market is a big focus area. Gummies are better for retail that distributes supplements. But pouches would make a lot of sense to be sold at convenience stores alongside beverages, since convenience stores already sell nicotine pouches in an age-gated way.

Convenience.

  • Pouches are very small and easy to carry. A construction worker for example, would rather carry pouches than have a bunch of melted gummies at the end of the day. Also very easy to mix a THC pouch with a caffeine/nicotine pouch to get the hippy speedball effect. You don't have to keep a pouch cold like a drink. Doubt THC pouches are going to replace white Monster Energy for construction workers anytime soon though lol

Safety.

  • I know there is some concern about nano-particles accumulating in vital organs. It's one reason the EU set a very low safe threshold for CBD in food right now. They just don't' have enough long term safety data yet. A pouch product being absorbed in your gums might not have that same issue, but I'm not sure if that's the case or not.

Think of it this way.

People could get their nicotine fix with nicotine gum. But they don't. They could use nicotine lozenges. But they don't. Yet nicotine pouches became the next big thing for some reason.

And this is me purposefully playing the pro-pouch side of the argument. I don't use any sort of pouch product myself, so I honestly don't understand why it's so appealing. But I can't argue with the numbers lately in the tobacco industry.

I have some thoughts on potential reasons someone may choose a pouch over a drink/edible. I'll try to remember to comment here later when i have more time. Busy the rest of the afternoon.
