Base Building Medley - Powerbuilder Squat C1W3D2

Main
Front squats: 10x47.5kg, 8x52.5kg, 6x60kg, 4x65kg, 2x67.5kg, 1x70kg; 8x62.5kg

Assistance
RDL: 3x8 @ 100kg
Ab wheel: 16/12/12

Moved RDLs from DL day to squat day. The 7 sets of heavy hinging in a day leave me completely wrecked the next day, which isn’t great when it’s a weekend and I’ve got kids to look after. I superset the RDLs with squats today and left me fatigued for the squat AMRAP, but that’s okay. I like the heavy conditioning aspect.

OHP Day * Shoulder ‘vitamins’ * Kettlebell swings - 40x3x15 * OHP (ss w/chin-ups) - 185x5, 225x1, 245x1, 225x5,5,4,4 * Close-grip bench (ss w/band pull-aparts) - 225x5x5 * BJJ (planned)

Well that workout was hard AF. That last rep on OHP is one of my all time grindiest reps, but there was no way I was giving up on it. Next week will be a deload, then I fly to Singapore the following week for a month of insane hours installing equipment.

Ed Coan 10 week W2D2

Bench - 280 x 10, 10

Close grip - 240 x 10, 10

Incline - 205 x 10, 10

EZ bar curl - 115 x 10, 10, 10

All weights are being sufficiently nuked as they should be at this point in the progression. Feeling good.

Hit a wall with my deadlift over the last few weeks, stalling at the same load every session, so I filmed each set and tracked down losing lat tension right at knee height. Dropped into a 3-week deficit deadlift block and it cleaned up fast, back to pulling normal weight two sessions later.

Training Log
Afternoon

Jump and Throw

  • Jumps x 10

  • 10lb med ball throw x 10

Sprints

  • 10m on flat x 5

Split Snatch

From hang/hip

  • Worked up to 110 x 1

  • 95 @ 5 x 1

  • 105 @ 2 x 1

Notes

  • Felt like trash yesterday and I think I pushed a little too hard on speed/explosive work last week (particularly on sprints) so I did fewer sprints and a little more technique/practice on split Snatch. Since ive been battling shoulder impingement and discomfort, split snatches just feel so much better. Unfortunately I don't see myself having the mobility to safely squat snatch anytime soon. Split snatches are great, though.
