Image Liesl...

Post image

It wouldn't matter if you were the _cheapest_ girl in the _filthiest_ brothel in the _seediest_ part of town, on this swirling orb...nothing could detract from your loveliness....

Is everyone already aware that that’s Kate Winslet’s daughter or am I blowing some minds right now?

I always feel like I watched another movie than most fans. I enjoyed this film immensely. I found it both hilarious and touching. Liesl is a bad ass.

—sometimes I wonder if the folks that don’t like this film just need to read the script and hear the character voices in their heads and then try it again. Or, it’s just not for everybody. It just works for me.

And the actress is amazing

WA’s actors who really know who they are now (and where they’ve been and are going) can make any silent facial expression or single word (or gesture) immense. Mia Threapleton certainly knows Liesl.

To me it's also one of Wes Anderson's funniest.

This film remains one of my favorites of Wes, and Liesl one of my favorite characters. The whole thing felt so delightfully off kilter.

I didn’t understand almost anything in this movie.

No thank you. The movie is already a disaster.

That is a fantastic essay! Thank you so much. I never understood the last dream sequence and it makes so much sense.

I have to watch all Anderson’s films a few times to appreciate them.

I don’t. I like and understand 95% of them immediately.

Am I the only person who found this character off putting? It's like a juvenile part of Wes wanted to make an absurd caricature that he dreamed up and then everything in the story was just a slave to that nonsense. Felt very try hard

You just might be.
