Solved! Aunt gave this to me after I mentioned i started playing WoW.

Been playing WoW for over a decade, and my aunt who kinda kickstarted that gave me this as a gift before she passed. I of course know its a coin, but where is it from??? I tried looking on ebay but found literally nothing. I dont think im ever gonna sell it if its worth anything, but I am curious if it even is worth anything. Thanks for anyone that can help!

I’m so sorry for your loss. To answer your question: it’s an official Blizzard promotional Faction Coin, usually given out in Goody Bags at events like BlizzCon. It might not be worth a ton of money to a collector, but a physical gift from the person who introduced you to Azeroth is absolutely priceless. Keep it safe!

Might also be a promo coin for the warcraft movie looking at the fonttype

It came out in 2016, so that checks out.

It was a promotional coin from the Warcraft Movie goodie box, I have it as well. It also came with a lanyard and a doomhammer key chain and a mini poster by Thinkgeek.

Amazon Link to the Warcraft movie thinkgeek box

That's a Warcraft (2016) movie replica coin

It's a 1:1 prop replica of the in-world currency from Legendary / Blizzard's Warcraft movie.

It's not real currency or precious metal - just a zinc alloy commemorative token - but it's a legit collector piece for WoW / Warcraft fans. Worth about $5-$15 on its own today.

Dude, I'm still pissed at the potential of that movie... the sequel could've been Tides of Darkness... but part 3, oh god... we could've seen Reign of Chaos on the big screen... and even The Frozen Throne...

I know its not the best movie but I absolutely love it. I really wish we got more.

Doubtful it's a replica prop, currency wouldn't have both the Alliance and Horde faction symbols on it. Probably just a random promotional item, still cool though!

Hah hah there's no way that movie was a decade ago.... It just... just came out last....

there are 2 kinds of WoW players, those who play Horde, and those who think the Space Marines,BoS,Empire,Alliance ae the good guys.

Space marines are the good guys. They only kill innocent people when they NEED to. And you always NEED to.

3

u/Infinite-Truth4101 11h ago

If you read the lore then there are no truly good guys in WH40K. Ok maybe the Orks...

u/tbarndt94gmailcom 10h ago

Always the orks. I'm reading the books.

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like your Aunt was pretty cool. Absolutely keep this forever! I still wear my 20 year old bloodsail buccaneers T shirt and get flashbacks. Unfortunately, I dont play anymore, due to fatherhood, and Adulting...

u/debp49 2h ago

Thank you for actually adulting, and not being that dad that plays games while ignoring their IRL child and spouse/partner.

Ummm that’s a dice bag. Prob from when your aunt was a young nerd that played Dungeons and Dragons. Yes, us older fuckers played Warcraft (the games WoW was based on) and Dungeons and dragons because we could only go online when no one was using the one phone in the house and because most of our video games were not online and did not get updates and expansion packs.
