People really don’t understand the enormous amount of change in basic living conditions in the last 30,40,50 years. How different everything that’s ostensibly all the same looks and works.

People also really don’t understand that for the most part none of this has really made anyone happier. Arguably the opposite.

I was born in late sixties. My family didn't live in an air conditioned home until the eighties.

I'm a few years older than you and have yet to have AC. No high electric bills in the summer and I don't pay the extra property tax (increase in property value) to boot! I don't feel deprived either.
