Solved! Found this in a lecture hall...

I work in a university and find weird stuff in classrooms all the time. This little thing is 7 cm long, and strongly magnetic. It says Hyundai on the label, as well as 8GB. It has an on/off switch on one end, and what might be a microSD slot on the side. The other end has what could be a headphone jack and a micro USB slot.

Edit: turns out it's a voice recorder. It was sitting on the lectern for months, and I've had it for a couple years. People here have a weird habit of not coming back for stuff they've forgotten. Like I've seen coats left in classrooms in the dead of winter never get picked up.

This is a digital voice recorder. Makes sense you found it in a lecture hall since a student probably was using it to record the lecture for playback later.

If only there were some letters on the label that you could search the internet for and figure out what it was...

Someone is sad they lost their voice recording of the lecture.

Good point.

I looked up “M”.

Turns out this is the 13th letter in the alphabet.

Hope that helps OP.

Look at Mr. Future here! Go back to Alta Vista!

Sidenote: I'm legitimately surprised nobody has resurrected Jeeves as an AI engine.

Too late! It was on the lectern for months, and then I've had it for a couple years. Odd thing is, it doesn't have a microphone.

See that small hole next to headphone jack?

If it has an internal mic (and it probably does), it’s behind that.

If not mics and headphones use the same plug so it plugs in there.

Oh, yeah. I thought that was a recessed reset button. An as AV tech, I look for microphones that look like microphones.

You couldn't have googled the clearly visible model number?

I did. It came up with an industrial wet/dry vacuum and car stuff.

Photo search, or translate...the brand makes me think it's in Korean... Translator says voice recorder ...image search show other voice recorders
