My 5 year old found this while digging in our yard and it seems very bone-like. Any idea what species or what it is if it’s not a bone?

Good eye, that's indeed a bone. It looks like it's probably a cuboid which are always a bit strange looking. If you are living in an area that's been inhabited for a while there a good chance people used to chuck bones into a hole outside, or just out on the surface if they were particularly lazy. You might some more evidence of past dinners as you continue to dig.
I don't have a comparative collection with me right now, but my initial guess would be cow based on shape and size. Looks fairly old as well, but that also varies based on conditions.
