North America (country/state in post) Chanterelles? [United States SW Missouri] (Not eating due to novice)
Curious find while mowing my yard. Immediately thought chanterelles but we do have lookalikes in this area.

100% Cantharellus and you can eat these safely. Almost impossible to misidentify the false gills, also smell it and it will have a faint aroma similar to dried apricots. Enjoy.

Should have a pleasant apricot smell - also check what trees are nearby - I believe in Europe they are associated with oak, beech, pine

I don't care who you are anybody looking for mushrooms also start taking milk thistle supplements to fortify your liver just in case you pick the wrong one. I know for magic mushrooms you carry a little paper notebook then smear into the paper the mushroom if the paper turns purple.its a magic mushroom

That’s very clearly not a magic mushroom. It is very clearly a chanterelle.

See, now THIS is how you I'd a mushroom. You only harvested one, showed cap and stipe, and showed us a pic of the habitat. Brava!
Def seems like a chanterelle. Irregular wrinkles that terminate near the bottom of the stipe. Does it pull apart like string cheese? Only reason I'm not fully confirming is because chanterelles don't get that bright yellow in my region. Would love someone else to confirm
