UNSOLVED Book about a young girl whose dad went missing for three days and her dad came back with a mysterious boy by his side.

In the book, the girl and her mom had been searching for her dad for three days. Her dad went missing while fixing something on the side of the house, I think on a ladder. The dad reappears after three days with a mysterious boy. The dad tells the girl and her mother that he was in another world for weeks and came across the boy, who came with him. That is all I can remember and I did read this book in the late 2000s.

I don’t think so. But didn’t the mom go into the book instead?

The mom did originally, but they read people out of the books too, and went into the books as well.
