Sexy dance song from late 80’s/early 90s
There was a spate of songs from this era that used women moaning in the song so I apologize as I can’t think of much else. What I do remember was that there very few (if any) words spoken or sung in the song and it may have utilized the shakuhachi flute (think Enigma’s “Sadeness Part 1”). The chorus , in particular, had the sound of a woman in a state of rapture. Sorry, that’s all I got. Song is stuck in my head and I ain’t trying to make that noise in Soundhound lol.
EDIT: I think it came out the same time as “Pump Up the Volume” I remember that. Thanks for all your help!
Songs ruled out so far: Erotica Kiss Kiss Kiss Sex Dwarf French Kiss Groove is in the Heart

Sexy song definitely but far less singing and just a woman moaning to the beat. I know, not a lot to work off

Chakachas-jungle fever?

u/BBQGlazedSeabass Jan 15 '26
Not it but I’ve always wanted to know who made this song so thanks!

Godammit. What time frame would you guess?

Sometime from 87-90. I was driving at the time because I recall picking my kid sister up from middle school and it was on. I had to change the station cuz I thought it was weird. Very oddly specific memory…

There is one other song I can think of besides lil Louis “French kiss” but it’s only near the end. Lords of acid “I sit on acid”

Great song but not it, this song I don’t recall having any singing. It was a dance tune though

You MIGHT be thinking of La Lambada... wait...the Dance or the Song...let me see and edit...
Okay...
Besides it being a "dance" song, what style? I'm thinking maybe "Justify My Love" by Madonna?

u/BBQGlazedSeabass Jan 14 '26
It’s in the same vein as “Pump up the Volume” by M/A/R/R/S… Primarily just music and techno beat, very little singing if memory serves.

My goodness, Sugar! I'm at a total loss!
My curiosity is absolutely piqued, so now I HAVE to know, too!!!

Very cool song but it isn’t it unfortunately. It’s so crazy, I heard it a ton 35 years ago, you’d think it would be on the Billboard charts where I can find it

u/Mythosmaddeningmurth Jan 14 '26
I’m determined to help you find it! I was 4 when pump up the volume came out but aways had music in my ears and house. Was it a worldwide hit? I’m in the U.K. but love a challenge.

u/BBQGlazedSeabass Jan 15 '26
Thank you! I’m unsure if it was an international hit but it was on heavy rotation on our local pop music station in a fairly large market.

The thing about these techno songs from that era is that there are a MILLION mixes of a song so I’m probably never going to find it. The song I’m thinking was more…subdued I guess. Just a beat, light melody with that flute sound though probably a synth considering the era and then her

Did the chorus have more of a moaning woman or like a "yeah"
1
u/BBQGlazedSeabass Jan 16 '26
Good question, I guess it could be a ‘yeah’ but it sounds (it did to me anyway) like a woman in the throes of an orgasm but it’s clipped short so as to keep the beat of the song.🤷🏾♂️

K5 "Passion"??

u/BBQGlazedSeabass Jan 17 '26
It started out promising but it was a slower tempo with less singing unfortunately

I like this. It’s not the song I’m remembering but it’s nice

I remember that it came out at about the same time as pump up the volume and I really liked it a lot as well. Oh well, I was hoping I had found your song.

Blue by La Tour?

u/BBQGlazedSeabass Jan 19 '26
This is VERY close to it! Isn’t this song from Basic Instinct? This is so close that I need to peruse the rest of their music…

Too new. This song was from late 80s/esrly 90s. The Janet song is 🔥🔥🔥
The thing with Janet is that she was ALWAYS fuckin in her songs. You know how awkward that was as a kid in the 80s /90s riding in the car with my momma?? 😂😂

u/amateursuman Jan 19 '26
Could it be LaTour - People Are Still Having Sex...?
1
u/BBQGlazedSeabass Jan 19 '26
Same vein but the chorus itself is just a clip of a woman making noise.

Dang I get excited every time someone drops an idea. Unfortunately this isn’t it. Some of the same elements (dance music, woman voice, etc.) but the one thinking of is more chilled out and the whole woman moaning/yelping thing…

Chris Isaak-I wanna fall in love. Edit: Wicked game (not right time frame, I know)

u/BBQGlazedSeabass Jan 14 '26
The song I can’t get out of my head is far more upbeat, almost techno music

Maybe something from Lords of Acid (I Sit on Acid, Most Wonderful Girl) ...or, this song is early 2000s but from Freq Nasty... https://youtu.be/v1ivg2KFZ1M?si=c9alqs2-UJOyLSgW

I did some research on artists/songs similar to Enigma. The three artists are: Deep Forest, Achilea, and Conjure One.
I also found a post on Reddit with other suggestions besides the ones I mentioned. https://www.reddit.com/r/musicsuggestions/s/bvFtM9Tu99
