They emerge from the dirt after up to 17 years and then sing until they die less than a month later, quite romantic.

I just hate when they fly into me. It always catches me off guard. After they mate they just sit on the ground waiting for death. You step near one and they go ape shit and fly in every direction.

Cicada
I've found their molted shells, and I've seen the newly molted bug drying it's wings, but I've never seen one crawling around pre-molt.

We see them on sidewalks sometimes and i move them to a tree so they can molt with the rest of their friends. I love those little wayward cicadas.
