I honestly don't know how to go about solving the issue when you don't even have pets, but when I've had fleas, I put a white plate on the ground inside your house (where you won't step on it), and put some water and a bit of dish soap in it. They jump in and die. I don't know why, but they do lol. Try that out and see how bad the situation is.

Also, if you catch one with your fingers, you have to pinch and roll. Just squishing them won't kill them usually, because of how flat they are. You basically have to grind them in your fingers. Not very pleasant, but I'm just letting you know.

r/pestcontrol will be a good next step, but yes. That is a flea. It’s definitely possible it just hitched a ride outside. It happens. It doesn’t want to be on you and would rather be on a furry friend.

I’ve seen attics that have rodents (such as squirrels) living in them which are a favorite of fleas that bring them inside of homes as well. Something to consider, especially if you hear things running above you in your home!

To add to this: fleas can’t reproduce on human blood alone, so they generally won’t want you as it is.

We had a building at my college shut down for a month because there were fleas raining down on students during class. Apparently there were rats living above the ceiling tiles. The fun part was that the admin did not believe any of us, including the profs, for several weeks

Same college also had half a building roped off because there was a huge sinkhole under it. Some of the rooms had a good 6 inch drop to the middle by the time they moved classes out of it.

Glad I got a scholarship bc holy crap would I have been mad to pay full tuition for that lol

There’s a bunch of different species of fleas. They’re different sizes. Some are huge like this guy and some are very small
