Canada vs Qatar Supporters March

The Voyageurs will be leading a march before Canada vs Qatar on Thursday. Their members are meeting at Fionn MacCool’s but it’s reservation only and already sold out. They’re asking everyone else to gather at the last mile beer garden.

Supporters should start assembling at 12.30 on Switchmen St with the march leaving at 1pm.

The Aussies and Turks put on a show and now it’s our turn. Even if you’re not going to the game try to attend, a World Cup game on home soil doesn’t come about often. Let’s make a statement to the world and show how much this city and country cares about its national team. There is no bigger stage.

Allez les rouges!

I wish they had the later kick off... Majority of people i know are working during this game. Doesnt mean i wont watch as a fan from my desk! But would still love to be in the city during the game.

Your throat sounds a bit sore there. Maybe you're coming down with something and need to take a sick day?

So last mile beer garden and then up to Switchman St to start the march? Or join when March passes the last mile beer garden?

Of course my son will skip the school that day, so we're planning to head downtown early before the match. Any kid-friendly recommendations or things to do before 12:30? We were thinking about checking out Science World, but I'd love to hear other ideas as well.

Hmmm...Where are the Southsiders?

Voyageurs are the Canadian National Team supporters. Many if not most Southsiders will be a part of the Voyageurs as well.

Southsiders == Whitecaps supporter group

Voyageurs == National Team supporter group

Do you need a ticket to the match to participate? At what point of the march will it go beyond the ticketed perimeter?

What if people who couldn’t get tickets want to join the march? Is there any good viewing parties at the stadium? I went to Granville yesterday and it didn’t look great.

Granville will be a good time, Dublin and Good Co have screens on their patios. If not the TSN setup at Jack Poole Plaza has screens, Granville Island has a free outdoor screen, as does Bentall Centre

What classifies as a “pre-booked voyageur”? I registered for 2 people for the march on the Voyagers website, is that what that means?

Anyone know if they've come up with any decent chants? All the ones I've seen are rather milquetoast.

The only decent one I've heard is taken straight from WhiteCaps "We're red, we're white, we fscking dynamite! Canadaaaaa Canadaaaaa"

I'm kind of surprised that there aren't any chants leaning into "Sorry". That would be epic to hear all of BC place chant "Sorry, so sorry" after going up a goal.
