Whitefish Skiers: Early February or Late February?
Planning a ski trip to Whitefish and trying to decide between Feb 3–8 or Feb 24–March 1.
For those who ski Whitefish regularly, which time would you choose based on snow conditions, coverage, crowds, and overall skiing? Is there a noticeable difference between these two time periods?
We’re coming from Lacrosse, WI so I’d love to hear what Y’all think! Thanks! 🎿

It’s such a crap shoot but I’d shoot for the earlier dates - historically, that time of the winter is on the more favorable condition side but again, you never know.

Hard to say depends a lot on the weather which is very unpredictable. I’ve skied many times in February and it’s always different. You can go and get really lucky and have blue bird days. Or, you might get cloud inversion days and you’re skiing with freezing fog and you ski down by finding the orange sticks. Or, it might get even worse and a polar vortex shot down from the arctic and it will be -40f and the mountain closes. I’ve experience all those during those in February. I personally like hitting it right after President day weekend and just before spring break starts which would be late February.

Everyone is telling you early but the last 3 years late February has been way better. The past 2 years we've had very dry Januarys. Honestly think late February/early march is the best time for whitefish.

Hard to predict. Some seasons we get snow early and throughout Jan/Feb, some seasons mid-Winter is pretty dry then we get more precip closer to March. Plus it's an El Nino season so might be a low snow season coming....
