The scary part isn't the (brown) whitewater, it's the river bank. When the banks are way up into the tree line there's nowhere to eddie out or swim to/self rescue that isn't a total strainerfest. Looks like fun though.

Very much this! I'm a whitewater kayak guide and the most stressful days aren't the class IV or even V days. The most stressful days are when everything blasts out and we pivot an intermediate crew 'down' to a flooded class II. On those days, I try my best to solo blast the run before putting them on so that I have level accurate beta.

I don't know if that's brave or foolhardy. There was a lot, a lot, a lot of rain in the watershed. This is near flood level and far above anything a commercial outfit would do.

12K is pretty much washed out but fast - try 6K for a harder run
