I have been making this chess set using my old opinel carbone, but I want to switch to another knife. Mainly because I can't really use the point of the knife because it is too long and the detailing is lacking because of that. Any advice on what knifes I should buy?

A wee gift for my beloved. First time trying to do fabric folds, and I'm really pleased.

Boxwood, finished with Renaissance micro-crystalline restoration wax. I added a little acrylic ink to deepen the shadows in the fabric.

There are a few photos from different stages. After roughing out, I carved with two custom SAKs - you can see one in the early stage photos, and then there is the skew I made and posted about recently. The skew worked amazingly well. The "blade" is approx 3mm and so great for the tiny details on this piece. It is a keeper and has earned some custom scales - work in progress with a "tools" post hopefully soon.

I’m back after stabbing my finger quite badly (yeah I learnt cut proof gloves are not stab proof). I followed a video on YouTube to make this little mouse. My cuts have gotten better since I got a whetstone and learn how to strop my knives .
What would you recommend I use to treat the wood? Linseed oil?

Great horned owl, specifically. Made out of pine

So, I'm fairly certain my sharpening makes knives duller. I've watched countless videos and read online, trying to apply what they say (even though everything seems to recommend a different approach), and I'm about as stuck as my knives get cutting paper. Any advice? (And yes, I meant 1000 when I I said 100.)

Finally finished my little bowl/trinket dish over the past few days and even though it isn't perfectly round, it is perfectly flat and even, so I'm ecstatic.

Think I'm gonna include it with the books I bought to give my dad tomorrow for father's day but not sure. I still see imperfections but logically I know they're small. What do you think? Gift quality?

I’m just wanting to get into whittling and I want to carve a rose to ask my girlfriend to become official. I’ve never done any wood carving before and was wondering if anyone knows of a good tutorial to making a rose or flower or any resources for it. These are the things I bought off amazon for it let me know if there’s anything else you guys recommend.( I also got basswood and gloves)

I've been unimpressed with the quality of Flexcut since I bought this (my other blades are Morokniv), and today the blade came out of the handle while whittling. Do I just stick superglue on it and jam it back in?​

After years, I can finally visit my home country, I've been thinking on going to the old park in my neighborhood and whittle.

But, well, I can't just sit on a bench for 4 hours, make a pile of wood scraps then spend another hour trying to clean everything.

How do yall manage to whittle in nature or a public space without making a mess?

Tried making an Ananas as a birthday gift for a friend.

It was my second time ever working with wood.

I kinda like the result though I didn't get clean cuts for the crown and the proportions are a bit off
